3 Recommended Luxury Meals Featuring Hakata Specialties
At Japanese Cuisine Kisuitei Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Branch, you can enjoy set menus such as Mizutaki Set and Goto Udon Set (hot) all day starting from 2,750 yen.
The menu mainly consists of tempura, sushi, and Wagyu steak, and its appeal lies in the attention to detail that is evident throughout the restaurant, including fresh fish delivered directly from the fish market, as well as Wagyu beef, brand pork, and domestic eel.
This time, we will introduce three special meals!
"Extreme" Mizutaki Set
First up is the "Kiwame Mizutaki Zen" (3,410 yen). This luxurious meal includes a single portion of Hakata's famous Mizutaki, along with three types of sashimi procured that morning. It also comes with a small side dish, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), rice, and pickles.

The soup for "Hakata Mizutaki" is made from chicken stock from Kyushu, with the addition of light soy sauce from "Kanoo Soy Sauce," which has been in business in Itoshima since 1889. It has a mild and refined taste, and the umami of the chicken is concentrated.
It contains handmade meatballs made from domestic chicken and Yamato yam, Itoshima's brand chicken "Itoshimadori," and flavorful, smooth tofu.
The meatballs contained cartilage, giving them a crunchy texture and making them satisfying to eat. The Itoshima chicken was chewy, and the more you chewed it, the more you could taste the chicken's flavor.

The sashimi selection changes depending on the day's stock.
On this day, we had yellowtail, sea bream, and tuna. All of them had firm flesh, and the amberjack in particular was fatty and had a refined sweetness.

Akitai Chazuke set
The "Akidai Chazuke Zen" (3,740 yen) is a luxurious meal that includes an "Akidai Donburi" rice bowl, which combines fresh sea bream sashimi and Spicy Fish Eggs prepared in-house, as well as five kinds of tempura.

First, we tried the sea bream sashimi with the special sesame sauce, which was a perfect match of the deep sesame flavor and the sweetness of the sea bream. Adding Spicy Fish Eggs to this made it even more delicious!
Next, it is recommended to eat it with egg yolk, as the sweetness of the egg yolk gently envelops the sea bream.
To finish, add some condiments and pour over the homemade sea bream bone broth to create a light and refreshing dish called "Akaridai Chazuke." It's nice to be able to enjoy the different flavors at the same time.

Spicy Pollack Roe Sashimi Set
If you want to get a real taste of Fukuoka, try the "Mentaiko Sashimi Zen" (2,970 yen), which features fresh sashimi and homemade mentaiko rice.

Spicy Fish Eggs, which is prepared in-house, has a deep flavor and a mild spiciness. The mentaiko rice sauce, which has a sweet taste, goes even better with rice.

Each meal was both elegant and satisfying.
