[Dazaifu Cafe] Highly satisfying! Enjoy trendy raw sweets and healthy lunches in this detached house (Fukuoka)

Hello! I'm Yumi Kuroishi, a writer who connects the city of Fukuoka with its people.

This time, we will introduce a detached cafe in Dazaifu City where you can relax and enjoy healthy lunches and sweets.

"Raw sweets" are hugely popular! A cafe filled with passion, "Hanatoki" (Dazaifu City)

Located right next to Dazaifu City Hall.

Hanatoki, marked by a white noren curtain, is scheduled to open in March 2023. In a retro Showa-era atmosphere, you can enjoy organic coffee, raw sweets, and fermented lunches.

The logo on the noren was created by calligrapher Nishio Maki, who is from Dazaifu City.

The restaurant was renovated from the owner's in-laws' home, which was built 40 years ago.

The furniture used, from tables and chairs to shelves and counters, has been used for many years, allowing you to feel the warmth of wood that has aged over time.

The owner, Mr. Kato, is a former clinical laboratory technician. With the desire to "one day open his own cafe," he took the first step and studied at a cafe school, obtaining numerous qualifications. He carefully prepares all of the sweets and lunches by himself.

"We want this to be a place where women can feel safe and spend some time for themselves, even if they are alone." This feeling is conveyed throughout the space.

The menu includes healthy food items such as the "Hanatoki Lunch" (1,530 yen), a pre-reservation required intestinal lunch incorporating fermented foods, and the "Salapan" (500 yen), a salad-like bread topped with an original dressing made with plenty of vegetables, as well as sweets and drinks. *The menu changes depending on the season.

Of particular note are the "Raw Sweets," of which there are three different varieties available each day.

It is made without sugar, flour, dairy products, or eggs, using fresh nuts and fruit, and is cooled and solidified without baking. It is also low in sugar and gluten-free, allowing you to enjoy the nutritional value of the ingredients.

Guilt-free and satisfying ♡ Try these raw sweets

This time, I ordered the "Raw Cake Set" (1,050 yen), which includes raw sweets and organic coffee. For dessert, I chose the "Raw Apple Tart" (500 yen a la carte).

The "Raw Apple Tart" is made with apples colored with butterfly pea, cashew nuts that act as the cream, and an oatmeal tart crust. Because it is made by cooling and hardening, it is served half-frozen. It is recommended to savor it slowly, letting it melt in your mouth.

Although it looks like a substantial tart, it's surprisingly light when you put it in your mouth. The sweet and sour apples and the natural sweetness of the cream and the richness of the nuts come together, and the flavor of the ingredients spreads the more you chew. It's so satisfying that you wouldn't believe it's sugar-free, and I was able to enjoy it without any guilt.

The coffee served was the "Hanatoki Original Blend" (580 yen for a single serving), roasted by "Coffee Chiba," a specialty coffee bean shop in Chikushino City. Each cup was carefully brewed using a siphon, leaving a strong aroma and a refreshing aftertaste.

Enjoy discovering new vegetables and miscellaneous goods! Events are also held irregularly.

The store also sells raw sweets that make perfect gifts, such as "Raw Chocolate Fudge" (620 yen) and "Raw Granola" (100g/720 yen), as well as pesticide-free coffee beans "Hanatoki Original Blend" (100g/950 yen), and locally grown vegetables on an irregular basis.

In addition, events and markets are held about once a month.

Spending time at Hanatoki is truly a treat. In addition to table seating, we also recommend the terrace seating on nice days.

Drop in by yourself and relax your mind and body. Please enjoy this luxurious time. (Text by Yumi Kuroishi)
