[Fukuoka Miso Ramen] A rich bowl of ramen worth making the effort to try in an unexpected place (Kitakyushu City)
Hello, I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious food!
This time, we'll be introducing you to a delicious ramen restaurant in an unexpected location that might make you think, "Wouldn't it be in a place like this!?"
Inside the wholesale market! "Zenseharamenya" (Nishiminatocho, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City) is a miso ramen specialty store that will open in November 2025.
Have you heard of the Kitakyushu Central Wholesale Market in Nishiminato-cho, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu? It is a distribution center for fruits, vegetables, and seafood run by Kitakyushu City.

When you hear the word "market," you might imagine that only vendors can enter, but in fact, anyone can use it after 9am!
There is no train station nearby and there are only a few buses in the morning and evening, so we recommend going by car.
You can still use the market even when it's closed, so don't worry if it says "Closed." Receive a temporary entrance pass at the gate and place it on your dashboard. Parking areas for general vehicles are marked, so head in that direction!
This time we visited Asa Town, a market-related building! It houses dozens of wholesale and retail stores and restaurants, and is open to the public for shopping and dining.

A miso ramen restaurant opened inside this building on November 21st, 2025!
The restaurant's name is "Past Life Ramenya"! The owner loves noodles, especially ramen, and while traveling around the country eating ramen, he wondered, "Why do I love ramen so much? Maybe I was a ramen shop owner in my past life!?", and came up with this unique name.

The sign and noren curtains feature interesting illustrations that pay homage to the evolution of mankind.

The interior, which was originally a market space but has been renovated, immediately exudes a chic atmosphere. The walls are a lovely shade of "Venice blue," a favorite color of the owner.

There are eight counter seats inside the store.

The name of the store is written on the counter, so it's fun to have it reflected in your photos.

There are three types of ramen! Which one would you choose?
Zensehara Ramenya offers three types of miso ramen. They also have toppings and side dishes, so you can combine them to your liking.

Miso ramen (950 yen)
This is a basic miso ramen topped with pork fillets, minced meat, green onions, and bean sprouts.

The soup is made from a chicken bone base and a blend of three types of miso, and is rich and flavorful, yet not too heavy, so delicious you'll want to drink it forever.
The noodles used are curly noodles that cling well to the soup.

You can adjust the flavor to your liking with the ginger provided.

Apparently, some people add rice (200 yen) to finish off the meal, so they can enjoy every last drop of soup.
Salted egg miso ramen (1,100 yen)
This ramen, topped with pork fillets, minced meat, salted boiled egg, green onions, and bean sprouts, is the most popular menu item, with a miso ramen base topped with a salted boiled egg.

The salted boiled eggs are made with nutritious "Ajiho eggs" that are carefully selected for their freshness. These delicious eggs, characterized by their firm whites and rich-tasting yolks, are boiled with a touch of salt. They are perfectly soft-boiled.

Special Zensei Ramen (1,450 yen)
A truly luxurious ramen topped with five slices of pork, minced meat, salted boiled egg, two pieces of Saga nori seaweed, green onions, and bean sprouts!
Recommended for those who want to eat a hearty meal.

You may have noticed from the photo that this restaurant does not use typical ramen bowls, but instead uses double-walled stainless steel bowls.
The owner once had the unfortunate experience of serving his child's ramen only to have it go cold, so to solve this problem, he decided to use these bowls so that the ramen stays hot until the very end.

The gold color was chosen with the miso ramen soup in mind, and it looks really cool.
The side dishes are also delicious! Our recommended rice dishes
The ramen is delicious, of course, but my top recommendation is the "Tamago Tendon" (400 yen)! This cannot be ordered as a single item, and can only be enjoyed by those who order ramen!
The raw eggs are coated in batter, the yolk is half-cooked, and the batter is deep-fried until crispy.

When you break the egg tempura, the runny yolk will spill out ♡ The sauce and yolk mix together and it's delicious!
They also have a "Char Siu Egg Tempura Bowl" (600 yen) with char siu, so it's a menu you should try while keeping in mind your appetite.

"Zensehara Ramenya" is a ramen restaurant that is difficult to get to without a car, but is still worth a visit.
Be sure to visit and combine your shopping at the market with a visit. (Text by ayu.latte)
