Just an hour from Fukuoka city! A popular donburi specialty restaurant where you can enjoy seafood and domestic beef all at once (Oita Prefecture)
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.
This time we're heading to Hita City, Oita Prefecture! We'd like to introduce you to a donburi specialty restaurant that our family unanimously raved about.
A must-visit! BOWL (Hita City, Oita Prefecture), a rice bowl specialty restaurant where you can enjoy fresh seafood and carefully selected domestic beef
BOWL is located in Mamedacho, Hita City, Oita Prefecture, about an hour's drive from central Fukuoka and about a four-minute drive from JR Hita Station.
It opened on March 12, 2025 as the second branch of the popular Japanese restaurant "Seasonal Cuisine Hanamon," also located in Hita City, Oita Prefecture.

This popular restaurant serves rice bowls made with fresh seafood purchased at the market every morning, as well as carefully selected domestic beef and eel.
Mamedamachi, where the shop is located, is a popular tourist spot overflowing with historical atmosphere, retaining traces of the Edo period. The charming townscape is also known as "Kyushu's Little Kyoto," and many people visit the area to enjoy eating while walking around.

When you enter the store, you will find a stylish space filled with the warmth of wood.

Apparently, Hita cedar is used for all the interior decoration and tables.
Although it's in a busy area, the shop has a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere where you can take a break. Wi-Fi and power outlets are available, and the cafe is open from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, making it the perfect place to stop by for a break from sightseeing.
You can bring your dog to the terrace seats.

It's very popular, especially on weekends, so we recommend making a reservation.
The height of luxury! Enjoy five different bowls at once with the "Special Selection 5-Type Bowl"
Our target this time is the "Special Selection 5 Variety Bowl" (2,980 yen), which can be enjoyed during lunchtime from 11:00 to 14:00 (last order).

The set includes five types of rice bowls - "Seafood Bowl," "Domestic Beef Roast Beef Bowl," "Salmon and Salmon Roe Bowl," "Domestic Eel Bowl," and "Sea Bream Sesame Chazuke Bowl" - as well as miso soup.

I can't stop being excited about which one to eat first ♪
Let's start with the "Seafood Bowl".

Image: Yurichan
This luxurious dish was topped with shrimp, tuna, amberjack, sea urchin, crab, squid, octopus, and flying fish roe. The rice was vinegared.
The quality of the ingredients is impeccable, but the local Hita soy sauce "Sushi Murasaki" takes the flavor to the next level.

The meat in the "Domestic Roast Beef Bowl" was very tender.

The sauce is a Japone sauce based on grated onion. The flavor of the roast beef and the quail's egg go perfectly together.
This is the "Salmon and Salmon Roe Rice Bowl."

A luxurious combo of salmon and crunchy salmon roe ♡ The salmon that adorns the bowl is so fatty and rich in flavour that it melts in your mouth the moment you put it in your mouth.
It was also very popular with the children.

The "Domestic Eel Rice Bowl" is topped with shredded egg and is beautifully colored!

It's so soft that it dissolves the moment you put your chopsticks in it.
The skin is crisp and fragrant, the flesh is plump and juicy, and the delicious flavor of the fat spreads throughout your mouth with every bite.
The last dish is "Sea Bream Sesame Chazuke Rice Bowl."

The sea bream coated in rich sesame paste is delicious enough to eat as is, but when you pour hot broth over it and eat it as a chazuke, the flavor instantly spreads and it's the best!

Personally, I think adding a little soy sauce makes it even more delicious, as it combines with the aroma of shiso.
The miso soup included in the set contains sweet sweet potatoes.

They use different seafood stocks each day, such as sea bream or shrimp. It was a simple yet delicious bowl that really comforted me.
Every bowl was very filling, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious lunch. I love it so much that I want to go there just for this place from Fukuoka.
