[Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Approach Cafe] You can only eat this here! Dashi Chazuke & Exam Prayer Parfait (Fukuoka)
Hello! I'm Yumi Kuroishi, a writer who connects the city of Fukuoka with its people.
This time, we will introduce some special Japanese cafes that you should visit along with your visit to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine.
Popular Japanese tea cafe "nana's green tea Dazaifu Sando Store" (Dazaifu City) will open in October 2025 on the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine!
Nana's green tea is a popular brand that operates Japanese tea and matcha-themed cafes both domestically and internationally.
On October 15th, 2025, the Dazaifu Sando Store opened on the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, a 4-minute walk from Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station.
You can enjoy drinks and sweets made with matcha blended for different occasions by tea masters from Yamamasa Koyamaen, a long-established tea wholesaler in Uji, Kyoto, as well as light meals such as dashi chazuke and udon noodles made with carefully selected ingredients.

The spacious interior at the back has a total of 80 seats, including counter and table seats.
It has a calm atmosphere that doesn't feel noisy.
"Nana's Green Tea" is known for having no two stores across the country with the same design.
At the Dazaifu Sando branch, you can enjoy a truly Japanese experience, with striking paintings of Murasaki Shikibu, a relaxing tatami-floored space, and special seats overlooking the Japanese garden! It's perfect for taking photos.
Exclusive menu item only available at the Dazaifu Sando store: "Hakata Spicy Spicy Fish Eggs and Whitebait Dashi Chazuke Set"
The highlight is the "Hakata Spicy Spicy Fish Eggs and Shirasu Dashi Chazuke Set" (1,650 yen), which is only available at the "Dazaifu Sando Store."

This highly satisfying set includes Hakata spicy cod Spicy Fish Eggs and whitebait dashi chazuke, warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings), and a choice of drink. It also comes with salted kelp and mustard greens, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors.

The broth can be changed to Japanese tea (Uji Sencha/Organic Sencha/Hojicha/Genmaicha), but the fragrant broth is by far the most popular.

The rice is made with domestically grown organic rice. The nori seaweed is not placed on the bowl from the beginning so that you can enjoy its crispness. By crushing it from the bag and adding it just before eating, the aroma will waft up and whet your appetite.
Spicy Fish Eggs used is "Yamaya's Spicy Spicy Fish Eggs" from a long-established Fukuoka company. Its slightly spicy flavor with a hint of yuzu ginger goes perfectly with the shirasu, and the flavor deepens when eaten with the mellow broth.
The shiso and mitsuba added a refreshing accent to the drink, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.

The set comes with a wide selection of 15 drinks to choose from. This time, I chose the most popular "Matcha Latte" (+50 yen). It is said to be one of the brand's signature drinks, and is popular among foreign tourists.
The mellowness of the fluffy milk and the strong bitterness of the matcha are well balanced, creating a comforting and soothing taste.
The milk can be changed to soy milk, so you can enjoy it according to your taste and mood.

The bracken-starch mochi that comes with the set has a chewy texture and the gentle sweetness of brown sugar syrup, making it the perfect after-meal dessert!
It's light enough to eat after a bowl of ochazuke, and it gently finishes off the feeling of satisfaction.

This luxurious treat features fresh, in-season Amaou strawberries, sauce, matcha jelly, matcha ice cream, sponge cake, and mascarpone cream layered on top, allowing you to enjoy a variety of ingredients and textures.
The sweetness and sourness of Amaou strawberries, the deep umami of matcha, and the richness of cream create a perfectly balanced and satisfying taste.
