[Fukuoka's popular ramen shop] Finally in the city! "The rich soup is addictive" Open 24 hours a day
Hello. I'm Kawai, a writer who covers a wide range of topics, from gourmet food to town information.
The fifth installment of our series introducing popular restaurants that have long lines is Ramen Yamaokaya Fukuoka Matsushima Branch.
The highly anticipated first store of the hugely popular chain in Fukuoka City! Enjoy a wide variety of menu items 24 hours a day at "Ramen Yamaokaya Fukuoka Matsushima Branch" (Matsushima, Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City)
Ramen Yamaokaya is a popular 24-hour chain that operates nationwide, mainly in Hokkaido and the Kanto region. Following the Kitakyushu branch and Kokura Nishiko branch in Kitakyushu, the first Fukuoka branch, the Fukuoka Matsushima branch, opened in Higashi Ward on April 29, 2025.
It is located on the premises of Yellow Hat Matsushima store, near the Matsushima intersection on National Route 3.

To maintain the quality of our ramen, all of our stores across the country are directly managed.
As the day of the photo shoot was a weekend, there were about 30 people lined up, and although it has been open for some time, it was clear that it was already a hot topic.

The biggest feature is the variety of the menu.
There are 29 regular menu items in total, including "Shoyu Ramen" (690 yen), "Miso Ramen" (690 yen), "Salt Ramen" (690 yen), and "Spicy Miso Ramen" (830 yen), all based on rich pork bone soup. In addition, they offer elaborate limited-time items, morning ramen that can be ordered from 5:00 to 11:00, and value menus that include a set with a rice dish or special gyoza, available only on weekdays from 11:00 to 14:00.

To order, purchase a ticket for the menu you want from the ticket machine at the entrance.
The spacious restaurant has three types of seating: counter seats for one person, box seats that can seat 4-6 people, and tatami seating that is safe for families. The energetic staff work efficiently, creating a lively atmosphere.

Once you are seated, a waiter will come over and take your meal ticket.
When doing so, you can choose the noodle hardness from "hard, normal, soft," the amount of fat from "more, normal, less," and the flavor intensity from "strong, normal, weak."

There are also various condiments on the table, including chili bean paste. One of the reasons it's so popular is that you can customize it to your liking, so why not come back multiple times to find your favorite flavor!
We are confident in our rich, flavorful soup and pork slices! A bowl of high-quality ramen that can only be enjoyed at our directly managed restaurant.
On this day, I ordered the classic "Shoyu Ramen" (690 yen) and "Spicy Miso Ramen" (830 yen).
Soy-sauce Ramen
While I waited, registering for the app, which offers a special service for first-time sign-ups, the long-awaited "Shoyu Ramen" was served. Under three large sheets of nori seaweed, roasted pork fillets, green onions, and spinach were hidden.

The proud soup, which has been passed down for 25 years, is authentic and cooked in-house. Water and pork bones are simmered for three days in four pots. It is rich yet has a clean aftertaste, making it popular with a wide range of age groups, from children to the elderly.

Just as important as the soup are the straight, thick noodles. These unaged noodles have a hint of wheat and a low water content, and are springy and easy to chew.
The roast pork, which is painstakingly handmade in-house, is another point that cannot be overlooked when talking about the deliciousness of Yamaokaya.
After boiling a block of pork shoulder loin, which has a good balance of lean meat and fat, we marinate it in a secret sauce that is made in-store every day.

The onions, grown on their own farm, also play a key role. They are hand-cut one by one, rather than machine-cut, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor, aroma, and texture.
Spicy miso ramen
The "Spicy Miso Ramen" is also a popular menu item, and is topped with roasted pork fillets, green onions, spinach, and three large pieces of nori seaweed.

The soup, which has a sweetness of miso but also a hint of spiciness, blends well with the thick noodles and is easy to slurp. It's an addictive flavor that explains its popularity.
With a wide variety of menu items, you're sure to find a cup that suits your taste. What's more, it's open 24 hours a day, making it very convenient.
I think this is another ramen option available in Fukuoka City! (Text by Kawai Tomoya)
