[Fukuoka Morning] Open from 7:30 AM! A luxurious set meal featuring Fukuoka specialties and Hagama rice (Ropponmatsu)

Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.

This time, we will introduce "Osai," a Japanese restaurant that opened in October 2025 in Ropponmatsu, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City.

A new Japanese restaurant has opened! Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at "Osai" (Ropponmatsu, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)

"Osai" is located a two-minute walk from Ropponmatsu Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line. It is on the first floor of "THE GROVE" building, the same building as Burger King Ropponmatsu Ekimae.

This restaurant is actually a sister restaurant of the hugely popular restaurants "Shokudo Owan" and "Kooriyori-ya Sonohen" located in Reizei-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City.

The "Osai" in the restaurant's name refers to delicate and carefully prepared side dishes that complement rice. The restaurant cherishes traditional Japanese hospitality and is named with the hope that customers will "spend a time that satisfies both body and mind in a warm and gentle space."

The restaurant offers a variety of dishes that are made with seasonal dashi stock and new ingredients, and the seasonings are also homemade, with no effort spared in preparation.

Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:00 (last order 9:30), lunch is served from 11:00 to 15:00 (last order 14:00), and dinner is served from 17:00 to 23:00 (last order 22:30). At each time, you can enjoy seasonal dishes along with freshly cooked rice cooked in a pot.

Inside the restaurant, the impressive tables made from a single piece of wood are eye-catching.

There are also table seats for 2 to 4 people in the back.

"Special" Side Dish Set (3,500 yen): Live-killed sesame mackerel, sesame Spicy Fish Eggs mentaiko, homemade soy milk tofu, pickled salmon, homemade sweet sake, freshly cooked rice in a pot, pickles, miso soup, and dashi ochazuke (rice with dashi broth).

This time, I had the "Special Side Dish Set" (3,500 yen), which allows you to savor a luxurious selection of Fukuoka specialties.

The homemade amazake served before the meal is not too sweet and has a rich, heavy texture. It envelops you in a gentle warming sensation.

The"freshly cooked Hagama rice" is a luxury that is served to each person in the pot! The rice has just the right texture, each grain is firm, and you can fully enjoy the sweetness and umami.

Side dish: Kamado rice

It is lightly served and makes enough for 2-3 servings, so you can enjoy the flavor of the rice itself first, then pair it with other side dishes, and finish it off with dashi chazuke, allowing you to enjoy the taste in three stages.

The highlight of the menu is a luxurious combination of seafood specialties from Fukuoka, including "Gomatai," fresh sea bream delivered directly from Nagahama, coated in a homemade sesame sauce, and "Gomasaba Ikkijime," made with live-caught mackerel.

Vegetables: Sesame mackerel, sesame sea bream

The mackerel is caught alive and has no unpleasant odor, and the rich flavor of the sesame sauce and the umami of the fresh fish fills your mouth. It's a luxury to be able to enjoy two Hakata flavors, sesame sea bream and sesame mackerel, in the morning!

The delicate side dishes made with seasonal ingredients are also excellent. In particular, the "homemade soy milk tofu" has a chewy texture and the subtle sweetness of soy milk, making it almost like an elegant dessert...!

The six varieties of Spicy Fish Eggs, including normal, squid, herring roe, and Chinese cabbage, all went perfectly with rice.

It was a luxurious experience that made me feel enriched from the morning!

By the way, the set meal is quite filling, but you can also add on toppings such as "Hakata Spicy Fish Eggs 6 Types" (+1,500 yen), "Salmon Roe" (+1,000 yen), "Sesame Mackerel" (+1,000 yen), "Dashi Chazuke Set" (+500 yen), and "Raw Egg" (+150 yen). You can also have a refill of rice for 150 yen.

Lunch and dinner are also worth checking out.

There are three lunch options: the "Japanese Set Meal" (2,200 yen), which features seasonal fish grilled on a hoba leaf; the "Specially Selected Beef Tongue and Meat and Potatoes Set Meal" (2,700 yen), which features low-temperature cooked beef tongue; and the "Extreme" Japanese Set Meal (3,500 yen), which includes sesame mackerel and sesame sea bream.

In the evening, there are the "Dinner Set: 9 Types of Vegetables and Freshly Cooked Kamado Rice" (3,500 yen) and the "Luxurious Dinner Set: 12 Types of Vegetables and Seasoned Kamado Rice" (5,000 yen, photo below), as well as the "Omakase Course" (from 7,000 yen).

There is also a wide variety of a la carte dishes and alcoholic beverages available, so you can enjoy it like an izakaya.

No matter what time of day you visit, you can feel the careful work of the artisans at Osai.

Be sure to come and enjoy the food that will satisfy both your body and soul. (Text by Hakata Aya.)
