[Hakata Area Lunch] Ceramic pot rice and side dishes are popular! Cafe dining with excellent sweets
Hello! I'm Yumi Kuroishi, a writer who connects the city of Fukuoka with its people.
This time, we will introduce a cafe dining that is popular for its clay pot rice and side dishes for lunch!
CHA CHU CHO, a hidden cafe and dining spot renovated from an old Japanese house (Hakata Station, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
CHA CHU CHO opened in November 2023, a 3-minute walk from Gion Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line.
This is a warm and cozy hideaway cafe and dining establishment renovated from a 70-year-old traditional Japanese house.

The restaurant has 14 seats in total, with 6 counter seats and 8 table seats. The calming wood-toned atmosphere makes it a comfortable space where you can casually drop in even if you're alone.
The restaurant is run by head chef Nonaka Ippei and his sister and manager Ishiuchi Rio.
Nonaka-san has trained for about 10 years at kaiseki restaurants and other establishments, and he stands at the front of the store every day with the desire to "make Japanese cuisine more accessible." You can enjoy "authentic Japanese cuisine, which has a strong image of being high-class and elegant," in a casual setting that allows you to drop in anytime!

Reservations recommended! The popular and limited-quantity "Earthenware Pot Lunch Plate"
At lunchtime, the popular dish is the "Clay Pot Lunch Plate" (1,800 yen), which includes rice cooked in a clay pot, six kinds of side dishes, and miso soup with lots of ingredients!
It's only available from Wednesday to Sunday, with only 25 servings per day! If you want to be sure to get a bite, we recommend making a reservation.

The meat and rice are mainly from Itoshima, and even the seasonings are all homemade!

The obanzai dishes change daily, so you'll have the chance to discover something new every time you visit.
On this day, clockwise from the top left, the dishes were Sakurajima chicken roast, soft-boiled egg, flatfish with kabosu nanban, lightly pickled bitter melon, bonito flakes with butter and chive soy sauce. All of them are perfect with rice! You can tell they've been carefully prepared because they're so delicious.

The rice, made with Itoshima rice, has a fluffy texture that can only be achieved by cooking it in a clay pot!
The miso soup is made with mushroom stock and barley miso and milk to add a mellow richness.
It's packed with ingredients like Nankanage, deep-fried eggplant, and seaweed, making it a satisfying meal! Apparently, there are also days when they serve red miso soup.

You can also use it as a cafe! Homemade cakes and coffee made with specially ordered beans
During cafe time from 14:00 to 16:00, they offer about seven kinds of sweets, including homemade cakes! Our recommendation is the "Today's Cake + Drink Set" (900 yen).
For "Today's Cake," you can choose one from the menu. The types change depending on the day, but on this day there were four types available, including "Lemon Cake" and "Earl Grey Rare Cheesecake."
The photo shows "Spiced Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese."

It's made with carrots, coconut oil, raisins, walnuts, apples, and five kinds of spices. It has a slightly sweet and spicy taste, so it goes well with alcohol! The cream cheese mellows out the spice flavor.

They have a wide variety of drinks, and the coffee in particular is made with beans specially ordered from ROASTER'S COFFEE, a coffee specialty shop with locations in Kego and Hirao.
A lineup that highlights the individuality of both sake and tableware
They have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, with a focus on Japanese sake. The restaurant's original Japanese cuisine goes well with wine, so we recommend enjoying them together.

Don't miss the unique dishes! They use dishes sourced from the Hakozaki Flea Market, Tokyo, and China.

The mug, custom-made by Kyoto pottery maker Choyogama, is also appealing.
