Hakata Uoyaki Kisuimaru opened on October 10, 2025. It is a new restaurant run by the Kisuitei Group, which operates Japanese restaurants and seafood izakayas, mainly using fresh fish delivered directly from the fish market.
It is a two-minute walk from the south exit of Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, on the first floor of the Nishitetsu Imaizumi Building, which houses Tenjin Umaka Yokocho, a retro Showa-era space that brings together popular restaurants in Fukuoka.

The name of the restaurant, "Uoyaki," refers to a new type of dish in which bite-sized pieces of fish are grilled like yakiniku on a roaster in front of you. Fresh fish that can be eaten as sashimi is delivered directly from Nagahama Market every morning, and the excess water is removed and the fish is konbu-jime (seaweed-cured) with the highest quality kelp from Hokkaido to concentrate the flavor.
Our experienced staff will act as "grillers" and cook the meat on a roaster right in front of you, so you can enjoy it cooked to the perfect degree of doneness.
The small bones have been carefully removed, so children, the elderly, and those who don't like small bones in grilled fish can enjoy it without worry.

All seats in the restaurant are counter-style, and there is even a fish tank in the back that shows how fresh the food is!

You'll be surprised by the deliciousness of the grilled fish! The luxurious "Special Grilled Fish Set Meal"
In addition to single items such as "Sea Bream" (490 yen per piece), "Grilled Sesame Mackerel" (490 yen per piece), and "Tuna Sukiyaki" (790 yen per piece), the "Uoyaki Set Meal" (regular 1,990 yen, premium 2,990 yen, special 3,990 yen) comes with grilled vegetables, condiments, salad, pickled plum rice, and soup, as well as the "Uoyaki Rice Bowl" (2,590 yen), "Extreme Uoyaki Rice Bowl" (4,890 yen), and the "Live Eel (Katsuman) Rice Bowl" (2,990 yen) made with live eel from Kyushu.
We also offer a wide variety of drinks, including sake and shochu, carefully selected to go with the fish dishes.
This time, I ordered the "Special Grilled Uo Set Meal" (3,990 yen), which allows you to enjoy eight kinds of fish. In addition to grilled uo, the set also includes three kinds of grilled seasonal vegetables, condiments, salad, soup, and umeshu rice.

The contents may change depending on what is available, but on this day there was one piece of sea bream, one piece of yellowtail, one piece of grilled sesame mackerel, one piece of lean tuna, one piece of fatty tuna, one piece of scallop, one piece of live abalone (not shown in the photo below), and one piece of live eel (from Kyushu).

There are seven condiments to choose from: Nagasaki seaweed salt, sashimi soy sauce, fresh wasabi, garlic leaves, seasonal citrus fruits, grated daikon radish, and grilled eel sauce. They will also suggest a recommended condiment for each type of fish.

Another major feature is that instead of plain rice, it is served with "umezu sushi rice" made with ume vinegar from unripe plums grown in Fukuoka. When combined with "Uoyaki", it tastes just like sushi. The sourness stimulates the appetite.
The portions are small so that you can enjoy it warm, but the great thing is that you can have as many refills as you like! By the way, you can also have as many refills as you like of the soup.

Now, let me introduce you to "Uoyaki."
It's also fun to watch the fish being grilled! The smoke is absorbed well, so you don't have to worry about the smell transferring to your clothes.

The sea bream has a crispy skin and moist flesh. It has a new texture that combines the best of grilled fish and sashimi. It's surprisingly delicious.

The fat of the yellowtail melts elegantly, and the rich flavor of the fish spreads throughout your mouth.

The new interpretation of Hakata's specialty, "Grilled Sesame Saba" is also excellent! The fragrant mackerel is combined with the flavor of the sesame sauce, making it perfect for eating with rice. It's a flavor that tourists should definitely try.

The "otoro" melts in your mouth just like high-quality Wagyu beef! It was so delicious that it changed the way you think about grilled fish.

I was also very satisfied with the Kyushu eel! What's great is that with the various condiments, you can experience a variety of different flavors with just one fish.
They served freshly baked bread at the perfect timing, so we had a luxurious time.
You can enjoy the same menu both day and night. We recommend this restaurant for a slightly luxurious lunch or as an izakaya.
