We recommend the great value tempura set! A restaurant famous for its "locally popular" Kawara soba and kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot) (Yukuhashi City)
Hello. I'm Momo and I love to eat.
This time, we will introduce a Japanese restaurant that is loved in Yukuhashi city.
A popular spot among locals! Bakan Soba, a Japanese restaurant near Yukuhashi Station (Yukuhashi City)
Bakan Soba is a Japanese restaurant located a 3-minute walk from JR Yukuhashi Station and near the Ebisu Street Shopping Arcade.
The "Bakan" in the restaurant's name is the former name of Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and you can enjoy local Shimonoseki delicacies such as "Kawara Soba" and "Kamameshi" as well as sweets.
The ingredients used are carefully selected, including handmade miso from Karatsu Town, pesticide-free lemons from Kamige Town, and handmade tofu from Yukuhashi.

There is a small garden and rest area next to the shop, perfect for a relaxing break!

There is a parking lot in front of the store, so it is convenient to come by car.

The interior of the store is made of wood, from the walls and ceiling to the tables, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Even the vanity and toilet paper holder are made of wood! You can really feel the attention to detail.

Our specialty "Kawara Soba" with a tempura set!
If you come here, you must try their signature dish, "Kawara Soba" (1,400 yen). They also have a slightly smaller version, "Mini Kawara Soba" (800 yen).

There are also plenty of set menus with "Mini Kawara Soba."
This time, I ordered the "Kawara Soba and Tempura Set" (1,400 yen), which includes tempura.
This luxurious set includes "Mini Kawara Soba" with tempura, rice, miso soup, pickles, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), and warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings). You can choose between "white rice" or "seasoned rice," and between "normal" and "spicy" dipping sauce.

"Kawara Soba" is a colorful dish served on a hot tile, topped with plenty of ingredients including green tea soba noodles, beef, shredded egg, seaweed, grated maple leaves, green onions, and lemon!

The noodles are served with a warm dipping sauce. The tea soba noodles made with Yame matcha are rich in aroma and chewy, making them absolutely delicious.
The part facing the tile is crispy and fragrant. Try adding grated maple leaf or lemon for a different flavor and a different taste!

The tempura is a gorgeous assortment of two shrimp tempura, pumpkin tempura, eggplant tempura, green pepper tempura, onion tempura, and shiitake mushroom tempura!

The tempura was freshly fried and crispy, the pumpkin tempura was piping hot, and the shrimp tempura was plump and delicious.

I chose "Takikomi Gohan" (seasoned rice). It had a nice aroma with ginger and a gentle, comforting flavor.

The mini-sized chawanmushi is filled with ingredients such as shiitake mushrooms and shrimp, and has an irresistible bouncy texture.

I was happy to have warabi mochi as the final dish! It was chewy, crisp, and chewy.

This was a very satisfying and filling set! I thought it was a great deal to get all of this for just 1,400 yen.
"Kamameshi" is also recommended
Another popular menu item alongside "Kawara Soba" is "Kamameshi" made with rice from Yukuhashi.
The wide selection is also appealing, with five different options to choose from: "Gomoku Kamameshi," "Chicken Kamameshi," "Beef and Spicy Fish Eggs Kamameshi," "Mentaiko Kamameshi," and "Octopus Kamameshi"!
In addition to the a la carte "Kamameshi" (800 yen each), there are also the "Kamameshi Gozen" set (from 1,200 yen) which comes with a small side dish, the "Kawara Soba & Kamameshi Set" (from 1,600 yen) which lets you enjoy popular dishes all at once, and the "Tempura & Kamameshi Set" (from 1,600 yen) which comes with freshly fried crispy tempura.

Image: momo
This time I ordered the classic "Gomoku Kamameshi" (800 yen).
It's filled with ingredients such as minced meat, carrots, shredded egg, and shiitake mushrooms, and is vibrantly colourful and fragrant.

The carrots were soft, and the minced meat and shiitake mushrooms were sweet and delicious! When I mixed it with the rice paddle, I could see the fragrant burnt bits at the bottom, and it was a very filling dish with plenty of ingredients.

They also have sweets on the menu, such as "Hachitaro Manju (black bean paste/white bean paste)" (160 yen each), "Mini Anmitsu Parfait" (450 yen), and "Shiratama Zenzai" (350 yen), so you can just come in for tea time.
