This time, we'll be introducing an amazing lunch we found in Konyamachi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City that you should definitely try!
Enjoy tempura made with carefully selected ingredients at "Shunsen & Tempura Bar Taka" (Konyamachi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
"Shunsen & Tempura Bar Taka" opened on May 8, 2025. The owner, who has been a restaurant buyer for over 20 years, uses carefully selected ingredients to create a restaurant where you can enjoy freshly fried tempura, as well as fresh sashimi delivered directly from the source and other creative dishes.
It is located right in front of Kitakyushu Monorail Tanga Station and Nishitetsu Bus Konyamachi Bus Stop, making it extremely accessible!

The restaurant has counter seats and table seats, creating a stylish and chic space.

Incredibly delicious! "Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu Rare Tempura Bowl" is the perfect reward lunch
Lunch is served from 11am to 2pm.
The tempura menu is extensive, including the "Ladies' Tenko Set" (900 yen) with a choice of dessert, the "Great Value Tempura Set" (1,000 yen) with two pieces of young Kyushu chicken, white fish, and four kinds of vegetables, the "Tempura Set" (1,400 yen) with two large shrimp, white fish, young chicken, and four kinds of vegetables, the "Large Shrimp Tempura Bowl" (1,600 yen) with four large shrimp and three kinds of vegetables, and the "Special Tempura Bowl" (1,800 yen) with two large shrimp, one conger eel, white fish, and three kinds of vegetables.
Among the dishes is the "Seafood Rare Tempura Bowl" (2,000 yen), a hybrid that combines the best of sashimi and tempura!

Starting in September 2025, the reasonably priced "Daily Set Meal" (1,000 yen) will also be available! You can enjoy daily specials such as "Taka Tendon Set Meal," "Matsuura Horse Mackerel Fried Set Meal," "Young Chicken Cutlet Set Meal," "Tempura Pork Cutlet Set Meal," and "Kyushu Young Chicken Fried Chicken Set Meal."

There are so many options to choose from, but my goal on this day was the Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu Rare Tendon (2,200 yen), which has been trending on social media. It comes with salad, pickles, and either fish soup or ochazuke (rice with tea). I chose ochazuke.

This luxurious tempura is made from "kamenoko," a rare cut of A5-ranked Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu beef procured from a Wagyu beef specialist trading company in Miyazaki Prefecture.
The exquisite heat keeps the batter light and crispy, while the inside is melt-in-your-mouth rare. The rich flavor of lean meat and the sweet taste of the refined fat fill your mouth, creating a truly blissful experience!

It's packed with meat, a soft-boiled egg, and two kinds of vegetable tempura, making it very satisfying.
The broth for the ochazuke is made by boiling kelp every morning and adding the umami of bonito flakes and dried sardines.

When you make it into ochazuke, the umami of the ingredients dissolves into the broth, creating a different flavor than when you eat it plain. I could eat as much as I wanted.

It was a very satisfying lunch, and more than worth the price!
By the way, in the evenings, in addition to the à la carte menu, you can also enjoy course meals starting from 2,000 yen (reservations required by the day before, for two or more people).
