Amazing value for money! "Just as you'd expect from a fruit shop" - a luxurious parfait overflowing with flavor (Saga City)
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.
This time, we will introduce a popular parlor in Saga City that also has a fruit shop attached.
Many fans! Enjoy parfaits made with high-quality fruits at Fruit Garden Shin SUN (Saga City)
Fruit Garden Shin SUN is located in a corner of the area opposite SAGA Arena, about a five-minute drive from JR Saga Station.

Founded as a greengrocer in 1960, it was renovated in 2004 into its current store, which also sells sweets.
Furthermore, in 2024, the company won the top prize, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, at the 34th Outstanding Management Food Retailer Competition, which recognizes small and medium-sized retail stores that have an outstanding track record and use original management techniques!
In addition to the main store, the chain has five other stores, including Hakata Hankyu, JR Hakata Station Ippin Street, and Sangenjaya in Tokyo. "Shin SUN" is now so famous that no local resident is unaware of it.
The main store is a fruit shop on the first floor and a parlor on the second floor (reservations not accepted). It is popular for its sweets made with high-quality fruits carefully selected from all over the country, and is bustling with customers every day.
On the first floor, there is a wide selection of seasonal fruits!

On this day, there were high-quality fruits on display, including "Shizuoka Muskmelon" (from 6,480 yen), "Yamanashi Fuji no Kagayaki (grapes)" (from 4,860 yen), and "Nagano Queen Rouge (grapes)" (from 4,860 yen).

For example, there are many varieties of pears available, with different sizes, flavors, and appearances.

Approximately 80% of the products sold in the store are purchased at Ota Market (Tokyo), which has the largest produce section in Japan.
They take into consideration the transportation and storage of each fruit depending on its characteristics, and adjust the fruit so that it is displayed in the store in the most delicious condition.

There are also many products that would make great souvenirs, such as "Saga Karatsu Greenhouse Mandarin Juice" (734 yen) and "Crown Muskmelon Jelly" (519 yen).

"New SUN Dressing Onion" (702 yen) and "New SUN Dressing Peach" (702 yen) seem like they would be good for everyday use.

There is also a "fruit basket" (from 5,670 yen) that is perfect as a gift.

Image: Yurichan
There are staff members who are qualified as fruit advisors, so it might be a good idea to ask them about recommended varieties and the characteristics of fruits.

We also have fruit tarts made in our own factory.

Jelly, fruit sandwiches, and other items are available for takeout or to eat in.

Because it is a popular store, the stock of products may be limited depending on the time of day, so we recommend visiting early.
Eat-in only! An exquisite parfait made with luxurious seasonal Shine Muscat grapes
The cafe space on the second floor is a spacious and relaxing space. Most of the seating is at tables, and there are even chairs for children, making it perfect for family meals.

In addition to the lunch menu, you can also enjoy parfaits made with luxurious seasonal fruits in the eat-in area.

Ordering is done via a self-ordering system using smartphones.
The item we were looking for this time was the "Shine Muscat and Fruit Parfait" (1,980 yen), which can be enjoyed for a limited time until around January 2026 (planned).

This parfait is unique to fruit shops, as you can choose the grape variety.
The menu is called "Shine Muscat and...", but you can choose from five varieties: "Shine Muscat", "Sunshine Red", "Nagano Purple", "Queen Rouge", and "Fuji no Kagayaki", and you can combine up to three varieties.

You can enjoy an original parfait made to your liking.
This time, I chose three types: "Shine Muscat," "Sunshine Red," and "Fuji no Kagayaki."

Image: Yurichan
"Sunshine Red" has a similar taste to "Shine Muscat" but is characterized by its thinner skin, while "Fuji no Kagayaki" has a strong sweetness and a thicker skin with a nice texture.

The top is sprinkled with pink grapefruit, apples, and various grapes, and underneath is vanilla ice cream, Alexandria Shine Muscat sorbet, and sliced pears and pineapples - it's piled high with fruit!

It's amazing that not only is it delicious and visually stunning, but you can also enjoy such a luxurious parfait for less than 2,000 yen!
Mixed Fruit Sandwich
We also recommend the popular "Mixed Fruit Sandwich" (550 yen).

The fluffy bread is filled with colorful fruits such as kiwi, strawberries, bananas, mandarin oranges, and apples.
The cross section is so gorgeous that you'll want to take a photo, and you'll be excited even before you start eating it ♡
The sweetness of the fruit and the mellowness of the fresh cream blended perfectly, filling the mouth with a luxurious taste.
It was filling yet light, and the kids ate it up in no time.
Princess Toyomitsu Jelly
Next up is "Toyomitsuhime Jelly" (550 yen).

Image: Yurichan
Jelly made with "Toyomitsuhime," a brand of figs that is a specialty of Fukuoka Prefecture.
The clear jelly contains chunks of fruit, and the refreshing jelly locks in the main flavor. Every time you scoop it up with a spoon, you'll be hit with a fresh, juicy aroma!
The elegant sweetness and gentle acidity are exquisite, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. "Toyomitsuhime" is the best♡

The children were all excited and said, "It's delicious!"

In addition to high-quality fruit imported from Tokyo, I felt that one of the great attractions of Shin SUN was the opportunity to find sweets made with locally sourced fruits.
The fact that new products and seasonal sweets are regularly introduced is another reason why you'll want to come back again and again. Be sure to give them a try. (Text by Yuri-chan)
