This time, we'll introduce a little-known cafe directly connected to Hakata Station, which is offering a limited-time afternoon tea that will put you in the mood for moon viewing.

THE STRINGS HAKATA is a wedding venue located on the 11th floor of KITTE Hakata, directly connected to JR Hakata Station.
In fact, the cafe lounge "TIME NEST" inside the venue is open to the public on days when there are no weddings being held!
* Generally, it is available on weekdays except Tuesdays, but please check with the store for opening days and hours.

The stylish interior is decorated with wood and stone, and you can enjoy a sophisticated and sophisticated atmosphere that will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the city.

TIME NEST's specialty is a gorgeous afternoon tea prepared by a wedding pastry chef (reservations must be made at least one day in advance). The menu changes with the seasons, using seasonal fruits and creating collaborative dishes, so you can enjoy something fresh every time you visit.
From Monday, September 1st to Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, the "Moon Viewing Afternoon Tea" will be held, featuring a wide selection of "moon viewing sweets" made with autumn flavors such as chestnuts and purple sweet potatoes (2-hour plan, standard plan from 5,500 yen, tea selection plan from 6,000 yen. *Prices vary depending on the day of the week and whether or not options are included, 15% service charge included).

Reservations are required and there are two sessions on weekdays, from 12:00 and 15:00.
Drinks are free-flowing, and you can also add additional sweets and drinks as an option.
Sweets Stand
The sweets stand will have a total of six types of sweets on display.

On the top tier are the "Moon Viewing Dango" in two colors, yuzu bean paste and white bean paste, and the "Rabbit Monaka" which combines chestnuts and bean paste. The visuals are irresistible and will make you want to take photos!
The "Moon Viewing Dango" was chewy and the crispy "Rabbit Monaka" was also delicious.

The middle shelf is lined with Mont Blanc Tart and Yuzu Mousse.
The Mont Blanc Tart is irresistible with its luxurious chestnut flavor. It's also fun to enjoy the different textures.
The "Yuzu Mousse" is said to depict a rabbit looking up at the full moon. The white chocolate rabbit is so cute ♡ The gentle acidity and refreshing aroma of the yuzu made it delicious.

The bottom tier has two flavors: "Cassis Orange Mousse" and "Purple Sweet Potato Macaron."
The "Cassis Orange Mousse" is an irresistible combination of the sourness of cassis and the sweetness of orange. The "Purple Sweet Potato Macaron" is a dish filled with purple sweet potato paste, butter, and whiskey cream. I was impressed by its light and crispy texture.

Savory
For savory dishes, you can enjoy three types: "Marinated Salmon and Quinoa Salad with Rose Sparkling Jelly" (photo above), "Mushroom Cream Stick" (photo on the right), and "Sweet Chestnut and Nut Cheese Dip with Prosciutto and Fig" (photo on the left).

The "Marinated Salmon and Quinoa Salad with Rose Sparkling Jelly" features a tart rose sparkling jelly that's perfect for resetting your palate after a sweet meal. The "Mushroom Cream Stick" is a flavorful mushroom fricassee accented with basil and coriander powder. The "Sweet Chestnut and Nut Cheese Dip with Prosciutto and Fig" also had an excellent balance of sweet and salty flavors.
Scone
Scones, a standard afternoon tea menu item, come in two flavors: milk and black tea.

There are three types of condiments to go with the scones: clotted cream, blueberry jam, and maple syrup, so it's nice to be able to try different flavors.
It was so delicious that I ate it all in one go.

Drink
Afternoon tea also comes with free-flowing drinks.
There are two plans: the "Standard Plan" includes one cup of tea from the long-established French tea brand "Mariage Freres" plus all-you-can-drink tea, coffee, soft drinks, and several other options; the "Tea Selection Plan" includes a selection of teas from "Mariage Freres" plus all-you-can-drink drinks from the Standard Plan.

Speaking of afternoon tea at TIME NEST, don't miss the special drinks and desserts that can be added as options when making a reservation.
This time's special drink is "Luna Grape" (800 yen). Fragrant and tart sangria topped with Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream! There's no way it wouldn't be delicious.

The special dessert is the "Grape and Chestnut Mille-feuille Parfait" (1,500 yen).
The glass contains chestnut soup, chestnuts with their skins on, grape jelly, and chestnut ice cream, and is topped with a chestnut mille-feuille, making this a perfect autumn parfait. You can enjoy the deliciousness of chestnuts to your heart's content.
Another great thing about it is that you can change the flavor with the accompanying berry sauce. The rich sauce completely changes the impression!
