[Kurume Lunch] Enjoy Chateaubriand for just 3,980 yen! A stylish cafe that feels like a real treat
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
If you're cafe-hopping in Kurume, it's no exaggeration to say that everyone knows about the popular Bistro Cafe Yozora.
I had always been curious about this place, but had been hesitant to go because I thought it would be mostly female customers, but on this day I decided to take the plunge and go inside!
Bistro Cafe Yozora (Kurume City): A photogenic space stretches as far as the eye can see
Bistro Cafe Yozora is located along National Route 209 in Araki-cho, Kurume City. The green exterior is already stylish.

Wow, what is this?
The first thing that caught my eye when I entered the store was the dried flowers covering the entire ceiling.
This was a spectacular sight, and all the customers who entered the store were holding up their smartphones to take pictures.

The interior is stylish, with regular chairs and tables, as well as bench seats.

The semi-private table seats are perfect for those who want to enjoy a relaxed conversation. They are versatile seats that can be used for dates or girls' nights out.

Pets are allowed on the terrace seats!
It's great to be able to spend time with your loved ones and dogs in the coming season, feeling the pleasant breeze.

A truly rewarding experience! Enjoy Chateaubriand at our "Meat Lunch"
Bistro Cafe Yozora's lunch menu is a bit luxurious, featuring fresh local vegetables delivered every morning and carefully selected seasonal ingredients from all over Kyushu.
On this day, we chose the highly recommended "Meat Lunch" (2,780 yen) and "Combo Head-on Fried Shrimp Lunch" (2,880 yen).
Let's start with the "Meat Lunch." It consists of seven dishes: Yozora Parfait Salad (for two people or more; if ordering for one person, a regular salad), today's dish, chef's special soup, main course (daily meat dish), mini Kanna ice cream, rice or bread (add 100 yen to enzyme brown rice), and a drink. For the main course, you can upgrade to Chateaubriand, also known as the "ultimate lean meat," for an additional 1,200 yen, so we splurged!
The first thing that arrived was the chef's special soup of the day, a chilled soy milk and carrot potage with chicken and burdock root dressed in mayonnaise and mustard.

This appetizer has been carefully prepared, so much so that you'll exclaim "Wow!" from the first bite.
The cool, refreshing soup is incredibly smooth. The natural sweetness of the carrots spreads throughout your mouth, and the aroma lingers in your nose, leaving you with a pleasant feeling.
It's like a "drinkable salad" that gently stimulates your appetite.

On the other hand, the mayonnaise and mustard dressing has a tangy spiciness, and the richness of the mayonnaise and the crunchy texture of the burdock are exquisite. It's so well-made that it makes you think, "I want rice with just this dish!"
Then the famous "Night Sky Parfait Salad" was brought to us. If you are ordering lunch for one person, it is served on a plate, but if you order lunch for two or more people, it will be served parfait-style!

It looks like a sweet parfait, but inside it's packed with over 15 different kinds of colorful vegetables and ingredients. You'll be surprised and ask yourself, "Is this really a salad?"

The interesting thing about this salad is that you eat it by turning the bowl upside down, which instantly livens up the table and makes for an entertaining presentation.

Share a plate and drizzle with the restaurant's original dressing.

This dressing is delicious to begin with.
The refreshing acidity, slight sweetness, and rich flavor are addictive, and you won't be able to stop eating vegetables.
The wide variety of ingredients means you can enjoy different textures and flavors with every bite, which is another appealing point.

And now for the main course! We paid extra to choose Chateaubriand steak! It's the highest quality cut, with only about 1kg being obtained from one cow!

When you put a knife into it, it cuts smoothly. You might think, "Wait, maybe I don't even need a knife?"

Image: Detour
I've never tasted such a tender steak before. The moment you put it in your mouth, the juices spread and the gentle flavor lingers.
When you eat it with the generous amount of sauce, your mouth will instantly be filled with happiness. It's a luxurious dish that you'll want to enjoy slowly with a glass of red wine, and it's a flavor that's perfect for anniversaries and special occasions. It's perfect for a day when you want to reward yourself for working hard.

By the way, you can choose between white rice or bread, and for an additional 100 yen you can change to enzyme brown rice.

It has a chewy texture and a slight saltiness. The moment you eat it, you'll naturally smile and think, "I feel like I'm doing something good for my body!"
You can also enjoy mini Kanna ice cream and drinks (we'll introduce mini Kanna ice cream later).
Packed with meat! A delightfully large "Combination Head-on Fried Shrimp Lunch"
Next up is the "Combo Head-on Fried Shrimp Lunch" (2,880 yen). Aside from the main course, the same as the "Meat Lunch" includes a Night Sky Parfait Salad (for two people or more. If ordering for one person, a regular salad will be served), a dish of the day, the chef's special soup, mini Kanna ice cream, rice or bread (adding to enzyme brown rice costs an additional 100 yen), and a drink.

The main course consists of two pieces of fried shrimp: a regular-sized head-on shrimp and a huge head-on shrimp measuring about 25cm, so big it almost spills off the plate!

Image: Detour
Let's start with the regular size. However, this one seems pretty big too...

Image: Detour
The shell is so soft that you can eat the whole head, and the meat is packed in perfectly, making it very satisfying.
Now, next up is the big fried shrimp.
It's about 1.5 times the size of the previous one, and so heavy that it's a little difficult to lift with chopsticks!

Image: Detour
However, I've worked in the restaurant industry for a long time, so I know the dark side of fried shrimp.
I thought, "The batter is just adding volume, right?", so I peeled it off, but...

It was so packed.
It was packed from head to tail. It felt like Toppo with a sense of security.
I would have been so happy if I had eaten this as a child...
If you are a parent watching this and have a child who loves fried shrimp, why not give it to them for their next birthday (mysterious look).
Enjoy the famous "Kanna Ice Cream" for dessert!
For dessert, you can enjoy a mini version of Yozora's famous Kanna Ice Cream, which is a nice touch.
This original sweet is made by flash freezing rich milk and shaving it like a carpenter's plane. The sauce changes daily.
It had a smooth texture like powder snow and was light enough to be the perfect way to end lunch.

Image: Detour
It was a very satisfying lunch that had all three elements: visual appeal, taste, and satisfaction.
It was my first visit, and I regretted not coming sooner.
If you're in Kurume and want to make today special, be sure to give this place a try. Next time, I'd like to try the evening dinner course. (Text by Yorimitsu)
