[Stylish Izakaya in the Tenjin Area] A popular restaurant with many repeat customers where you can enjoy exquisite teppanyaki with seasonal vegetables
Hello! I'm Piroto, a gourmet tour guide in Fukuoka city.
There are many wonderful restaurants in Fukuoka, but among them, there is one restaurant that I have decided is the one to go to when I want to eat delicious vegetables, and one that I have visited many times.
This time, I will be introducing some of my favorite popular restaurants that are loved by many repeat customers, along with their charms!
Enjoy seasonal vegetables in "Teppanyaki"! Satisfy your heart and stomach in a comfortable space at "Vegetables and Me Daimyo Midori" (Daimyo, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
At "Vegetables and Me Daimyo Midori," you can enjoy teppanyaki featuring seasonal vegetables sourced from all over the country.
The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building in a back alley in Daimyo, about a seven-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Subway Airport Line. Its location is a little hard to find, but it's an exciting "hideaway" known only to those in the know.

When you open the door, you'll be greeted by a warm, cozy space with a wooden motif.
I recommend the counter seats, where rows of colorful seasonal vegetables are lined up in front of you, building anticipation for the meal to come.

The best part of these counter seats is the live cooking experience unfolding right before your eyes! The sizzling sounds of grilled vegetables and the fragrant aroma will whet your appetite.

The scene where the food is served is something you can only see at this restaurant. The food is placed on a large wooden spatula and presented in front of you with a smile. This fun interaction makes your mealtime even more exciting.

Of course, in addition to counter seats, there are also table seats available for groups to enjoy.
The stylish space is decorated with plants and dried flowers, and is picturesque no matter where you look, so we can confidently recommend it for dates or girls' nights out!
Enjoy our specialty "grilled vegetables" that bring out the best flavor of the ingredients
There are six varieties of their specialty teppanyaki dish, "grilled vegetables," always available, and the lineup changes slightly each month to match the changing seasons. "What seasonal vegetables will I come across this month?" I find myself discovering something new and looking forward to it every time I visit. That's one of the reasons I keep coming back to this restaurant.
On this day, six types of vegetables were available: "Eggplant from Kumamoto Prefecture," "Pumpkin from Hokkaido," "Okamura Farm Zucchini," "Bitter Melon from Oita Prefecture," "Water Spinach from Fukuoka Prefecture," and "Tomato from Fukuoka Prefecture." Each dish is presented with a creative touch, taking advantage of the flavor of the ingredients.

One order of "grilled vegetables" is enough for two people to share.
First off, we have "Fukuoka Prefecture Tomatoes" (650 yen).

The sweetness of the tomatoes is brought out to the fullest by slowly cooking them on a hot plate, and the juicy juice of the sweet tomatoes and the flavor of the shiso pesto sauce are an exquisite combination. It has a refreshing yet moderately salty taste, making for a well-balanced flavor!
Next is "Hokkaido Pumpkin" (700 yen).

It has a rich, sticky texture, and the natural, gentle sweetness of the ingredients themselves spreads throughout your mouth.
Dip it in the honey butter that comes with it and you'll be hooked on the sweet and saltytaste.
And this is "Okamura Farm Zucchini" (900 yen). This playful dish is a bold twist on the Swedish potato dish "Hasselback Potatoes," using zucchini.

Bacon is sandwiched between the finely cut slits, and a generous amount of melted cheese is placed on top. The zucchini is cooked just right, so that it retains a crisp texture, yet bursts with moisture and flavor when you bite into it! It's also incredibly satisfying to eat.
It's not just vegetables! A wide variety of a la carte dishes to order
The appeal of this restaurant is not just its grilled vegetables. They also have a wide selection of main dishes, such as fried foods and meat dishes, that you'll want to add to your meal.
First up is the classic, "Midori's Grilled Potato Salad" (700 yen).

The chunky potatoes are fluffy and satisfying. Grilled cheese is placed on the bottom, and the creaminess of the potato salad and the saltiness of the cheese are a perfect match. This is a must-order dish, and you can't go wrong!
Next is "Fried Young Chicken with Flying Dashi (4 pieces)" (700 yen).

The batter is crispy and fragrant, and the inside is surprisingly juicy. The moment you bite into it, the juices packed with the delicious flavor of ago dashi broth ooze out. The punchy flavor makes it perfect for drinking beer or highballs. Each piece is also large, which is a plus!
There is also a stylish dish made with fruit that is almost like a dessert. This is the "Baked Camembert Cheese with Seasonal Fruits" (1,100 yen). On this day, it was pear.

The baked Camembert has an exquisite texture, fragrant on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside! Its saltiness and richness bring out the fresh sweetness of the pear. The sweet and sour balsamic sauce that brings the whole thing together, along with the addition of nuts, creates a wonderful unity.
Finally, we have Midori's special garlic butter rice (1,280 yen), which is perfect as a final dish and is perfect for finishing off a meal even if you're full.

The fragrant aroma of garlic butter is softly layered with the refreshing scent of shiso, which will whet your appetite.
The biggest surprise of this dish is the finely chopped Nara pickles mixed in. The crunchy texture and unique flavor are the perfect accent, making it rich yet refreshingly delicious, and you'll be hooked until the very last bite.
Check out the extensive drink menu and unique service!
"Oyasai to Watashi Daimyo Midori" has an extensive drink menu, offering a wide range of drinks, from standard beers and highballs to homemade fruit sours, wine, and sake.
These are the "Homemade Pear Sour" (photo left, 650 yen) and the "Banana Highball" (photo right, 700 yen). The banana highball is an unexpected combination, but the gentle sweetness of the banana goes well with the highball! *The beans in the foreground of the photo are Kurakake beans (350 yen per person), which are served as an appetizer.

It's also worth noting that there is a "self-discount" system that gives you a 50 yen discount if you buy some of the drinks in the refrigerator (bottled beer, craft beer, soft drinks, etc.) yourself!

The delicious looking fruit juice was also included. I took out the glass from the refrigerator.

Once you return to your seat, just tell the staff, "I brought it myself!" and your order is complete. It's a fun and enjoyable service, isn't it?

I hope I have conveyed even a little of the reasons why I keep returning to this restaurant, not only for the teppanyaki made with seasonal vegetables, but also for the cozy atmosphere that warms the heart and the hospitality of the kind staff.
This is a restaurant that I can confidently recommend for a meal with a special friend or a date on a special occasion. Please give it a try. (Text by Piroto)
