This time, we will introduce a new menu item from a popular cafe that uses sweet potatoes.
"Scorched Sweet Potato Brulee Fair" held at Cafe & Books Bibliotheque (Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
Cafe & Books Bibliotheque is a cafe, book and miscellaneous goods store where you can enjoy cakes made with carefully selected ingredients and fluffy, chewy pancakes. In Fukuoka, there is a "Fukuoka Tenjin store" on the first basement floor of "VIORO".
Starting Wednesday, September 3, 2025, all Cafe & Books Bibliotheque locations and its sister store, Pancake & Books Bibliotheque, will be hosting a "Honey Sweet Potato Scorched Brulee Fair," featuring organic Annou sweet potatoes carefully cultivated from the soil at Goto Shoten Sato no Imoya in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture.

The organic Annou sweet potato from Goto Shoten Sato no Imoya is known for its sticky sweetness with a sugar content of over 30 degrees Brix. Its rich flavor makes it seem as if it is oozing with honey, and it is popularly known as the "honey potato."
This year's fair will feature special autumn sweets with the sweet potato as the main ingredient, layered with the fragrant aroma of brulee. Enjoy this melt-in-your-mouth autumn dish, created by combining a variety of ingredients such as salted butter, honey lemon, and brown sugar, in pancakes and pies.

Sweet potato and salted butter brulee pancakes with honey lemon sauce
The "Honey Sweet Potato and Salted Butter Burnt Brulee Pancake with Honey Lemon Sauce" (1,760 yen) is filled with the rich sweetness and sticky texture of honey sweet potato. The fragrant, melting brulee and salted butter really bring out the sweetness of the honey sweet potato.

Finishing it off with a honey lemon sauce adds a refreshingly sour accent. Enjoy the balance of sweet and savory, salty and sour in one dish, making this a delicious pancake that truly embodies the taste of autumn.

Scorched sweet potato brulee pie
The "Scorched Sweet Potato Brulee Pie" (1,078 yen) is made from sweet, fluffy sweet potato, baked into a smooth brulee with a fragrant caramelized surface.

The inside is layered with a rich white mousse with a hint of brown sugar. The crispy, creamy brûlée, the light and fluffy mousse, and the flaky pie crust create a delightful harmony of textures.

At the same time, a limited-edition autumn menu using chestnuts will also be available.
Japanese Chestnut Marron Chantilly (White Terrier Mille Blanc)
The "Japanese Chestnut Marron Chantilly (White Terrier Mille Blanc)" (1,320 yen) is a playful and cute dish. The chestnut cream is made with a generous amount of mellow sweet Japanese chestnuts, and the shape of a "White Terrier" is made with light fresh cream.

The name "Mille Blanc" comes from the combination of milk and blanc, which means "white" in French. A hint of lemon is hidden between the fluffy sponge and Japanese chestnut cream, adding a refreshing accent to the gentle sweetness.

The "French Chestnut Mont Blanc" (1,210 yen) is made with a cream made with fragrant, soft French chestnuts and layered with lightly sweetened fresh cream with a hint of rum.

Enjoy a rich tea time with "Osmanthus Black Tea"
"Osmanthus Tea" is the perfect autumn dessert.
The gentle, sweet, and somewhat nostalgic aroma of osmanthus flowers, which herald the arrival of autumn, softly spreads throughout the black tea. The rich sweetness of the sweet potato harmonizes with the aroma, creating a deep, lingering aftertaste with each sip, further deepening the flavor.
