So delicious you'll want to try them all! A popular handmade ice cream specialty store (Fukuoka City) that also serves as a great gift
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves the hottest information about Fukuoka.
This time, we will introduce a specialty handmade ice cream shop located in Josai, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City.
SCOOP! ICE CREAM & COFFEE, a specialty shop that makes handmade ice cream using ingredients from Kyushu and Yamaguchi (Josai, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City)
SCOOP! ICE CREAM & COFFEE opened on June 14, 2025. It's located just off Sawara Kaido, about a 30-second walk from the Nishitetsu Sobaru bus stop.
The shop offers a selection of handmade ice creams made with seasonal fruits and unusual ingredients, mainly from Kyushu and Yamaguchi.

They use carefully selected ingredients and do not use any artificial flavorings or colorings. They always have around 10 flavors available, with "Milk," "Homemade Rum Raisin," and "Golden Kiwi" being standard flavors. The other menu items change depending on the season and what's available, so you can discover a new flavor every time you visit!
The lineup for the day was "Homemade Rum Raisin," "Milk," "Golden Kiwi," "Bankan (Kumamoto)," "Mango & Itoshima Passionfruit," "Chocolate Brownie," "Banana Chocolate Crunch," "Fresh Chocolate Mint," "Plum," and "Red Shiso (Yamaguchi)."

Prices for the "Cup" are 300 yen for kids (elementary school students and younger), 520 yen for a single, 680 yen for a double, and 880 yen for a triple. For an additional 140 yen, you can choose the special "hand-baked cone."
In addition to the "Ice Cream Float" (780 yen), which is a "Coffee" (520 yen) or "Melon Soda/Coke" (480 yen each) topped with your choice of ice cream, there is also the "Craft Beer (Yona Yona Ale)" (680 yen) and "Craft Beer of the Month" (740 yen) poured from a server, which are not to be missed. Incidentally, the coffee is made using beans from "COFFEEBOY," a specialty coffee shop in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Apparently, it is blended to be slightly bitter so that it pairs well with the ice cream.
For takeout, the ice cream is also available in a "single cup with lid" (520 yen), a "set of three cups with lids" (1,560 yen), and a "gift box set of six" (3,400 yen), which would make a great little gift!

There are three table seats, so you can also eat in.

You could eat as many as you wanted! A selection of delicious ice cream
First, I ordered the "Cup Double" (680 yen) and chose "Chocolate Brownie" and "Bankan (Kumamoto)."

The "Chocolate Brownie" has a rich sweetness and a strong cocoa flavor, and the sticky texture spreads in your mouth when you put it in your mouth. On the other hand, the "Bankan (Kumamoto)" is characterized by a moderate bitterness and refreshing flavor typical of citrus fruits, and it was a refreshing feeling that was perfect for a hot day.
This is the "Hand-baked Corn Double" (820 yen) with "Red Shiso" and "Mango & Itoshima Passionfruit."

The moment you put the "Red Shiso" in your mouth, the scent of shiso spreads softly, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. It's a flavor that will energize your body even when you're tired from the heat. The "Mango & Itoshima Passionfruit" has the smooth sweetness of mango and the crunchy texture of passionfruit seeds, making it a delight! The fragrant hand-baked corn, baked in-store, is also delicious ♡
The last item was the "Ice Cream Float" (780 yen). It was a classic combination of "Melon Soda" and "Milk." The soda had the natural flavor and sweetness of melon, and the rich, flavorful ice cream was a sure hit!

On the day I visited, customers started coming in one after the other after lunch. It was impressive to see that the restaurant is loved by a wide range of people, from young people to families and those with small children. It tends to get crowded around 1:00 PM, so if you want to take it easy, I recommend going around 12:00 PM.

The stylish concrete interior of the shop is perfect for posting on social media. The flavors change with the seasons, making it a shop you'll want to visit again and again. Be sure to stop by. (Text by Hakata Aya.)
