KUOHKA, a new gourmet street, opened on the second basement floor of the Grand Building in Canal City Hakata on July 18, 2025.
It's a hot topic as it brings together 21 restaurants from a variety of genres that gourmets will be interested in, including Japanese cuisine, French cuisine, and snacks.
In particular, this time we will be introducing the new "Bar & Grill" and "Bakery & Cafe" formats, which are the largest stores in the area opened by the popular New York bakery "THE CITY BAKERY"!
The New York bakery "THE CITY BAKERY Canal City Hakata" debuts in the Hakata area (Sumiyoshi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)
Celebrating its 10th anniversary since arriving in Fukuoka, the beloved "THE CITY BAKERY" is opening its first store in the Hakata area! "THE CITY BAKERY Canal City Hakata" is a bakery and cafe that can be enjoyed.
It opens at 8:00, so you can drop in and get bread and coffee to go.

All of the breads lined up are photogenic! There are also plenty of specialty items, such as "Pretzel Croissants" and "Chocolate Chunk Cookies."

The cafe space is also spacious! From 8:00 to 17:00, you order at the register and can use all the seats, including the space in the neighboring "THE CITY BAKERY BAR & GRILL Canal City Hakata." After 17:00, you can only use the bakery's cafe space.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast starts at 8:00 and there is a wide selection of satisfying dishes on the menu, including the classic "CB Breakfast" (1,320 yen) plate topped with fried eggs and bacon, the addictive sweet and salty "French Toast" (1,210 yen) pictured, and juicy "Hot Dogs" (660 yen) grilled on a hot plate.

LUNCH
During lunchtime from 11:00, the chef offers a wide selection of one-plate dishes. The staff's top recommendation is the visually impactful "CHIKAPPA Katsu Sandwich" (1,650 yen), as shown in the photo. As the name suggests, it's "chikappa" delicious and the portion size is sure to leave you very satisfied!

They also have American-sized burgers that will please even those with a heartier appetite, such as the "Pretzel Croissant Burger" (1,980 yen), which combines their famous "Pretzel Croissant" with a Wagyu beef patty, and the "Double Cheeseburger" (1,760 yen), which features a flavorful bun and a meaty patty that go perfectly together.

A new business concept! "THE CITY BAKERY BAR & GRILL Canal City Hakata" where you can enjoy teppanyaki made with Kyushu ingredients in small to medium-sized dishes.
Next to "THE CITY BAKERY Canal City Hakata" is "THE CITY BAKERY BAR & GRILL Canal City Hakata," a new type of restaurant that serves teppanyaki dishes made with fresh seafood, meat, and vegetables from Kyushu, as well as homemade bread.

With a view of the canal, the restaurant offers a calm, adult atmosphere that perfectly matches the chic atmosphere of KUOHKA. It opens at 5pm and customers can order at their seats.

There are a variety of grilled dishes that are cooked at high temperatures to lock in the flavor and bring out the natural taste of the ingredients. Just looking at the diverse menu will get you excited!

The menu mainly consists of small to medium-sized dishes, so it's nice to be able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes in small portions.
This is the "Crispy Potato Salad with Mentaiko Mayo Sauce" (770 yen). The potatoes are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the mentaiko mayonnaise is soaked into them, making for a flavor that makes you crave alcohol! I thought it would be a light appetizer, but it was also very satisfying.

The "Grilled Aso Natural Pork Sausage" (847 yen) is delicious just from the look of it being grilled to perfection on a hot plate. The more you chew it, the more the flavor spreads, making it a truly satisfying sausage for adults! You can really feel the quality of ingredients from Kyushu.

A must-try is the "Crispy Grilled Hakata Chicken with Kyushu Soy Sauce and Balsamic Vinegar" (2,420 yen). The skin is fragrant and the inside is plump. The mellow sweetness of Kyushu soy sauce and the tartness of balsamic vinegar are an exquisite match.

To accompany your meal, try the "Basket of Focaccia" (330 yen). It has a soft and moist texture and a simple flavor, and goes perfectly with both food and alcohol. You can even have as many refills as you like!

They also have a wide selection of wines by the glass and highballs made with barrel-aged shochu, making it perfect for both a quick drink or a full-fledged dinner.
