[Tenjin] The best! "A stylish bakery where you can enjoy wine and mentaiko French bread" (Fukuoka)
Hello. I'm Shou Fujita, a gourmet writer who prefers bread in the morning.
This time, we will introduce you to a notable bakery in Tenjin that offers new ways to enjoy bread and wine.
A new business model from Fukuoka's popular bakery! "Full Full Bread and Wine" (Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
"Full Full Bread and Wine" is located along Showa-dori Street, about a 4-minute walk from Tenjin Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line.
Furufuru, known as the pioneer of the "Mentaiko French Bread" boom, operates five stores in Fukuoka, including a bakery cafe.

"Full Full Bread and Wine" is a new and exciting business that opened in June 2024 with the aim of spreading the enjoyment of "bread drinking," which combines bread and wine.

Inside the sophisticated and chic interior, approximately 35 types of bread and baked goods are lined up on a central table and counter.

One of the features of Furufuru is that more than half of the items are sold as store exclusives, catering to the needs of each region.
Among them, "Full Full Bread and Wine" offers a wide selection of breads made with cheese and other flavorful ingredients that are carefully selected to go well with wine.

There are six counter seats in total, located at the back of the shop and by the window, where you can enjoy not only the bread on display in the shop, but also wine and other drinks, as well as eat-in only menu items.

The wine lineup includes about 10 types of red and white wine, with a focus on dry wines that go well with bread.

Bread and wine can be enjoyed from the opening time of 10am, and the eat-in only menu can be ordered from 12pm onwards.
The most popular item at Furufuru: Mentaiko French Fries
Among the take-out items, the overwhelmingly most popular is the "Mentaiko French Bread" (480 yen).

This original French bread is crispy and fragrant on the outside and chewy inside, and is generously sandwiched with homemade mentaiko butter made with spicy Spicy Fish Eggs from Fukusaya, a long-established Fukuoka store.
It's an extremely popular item that most customers, including tourists from overseas, buy to take home, and apparently during peak times they are baked every five minutes.

Experience "bread drinking" with an exclusive dine-in menu and wine!
On this day, we ordered the eat-in only "Overflowing Mentaiko French Snack" (800 yen), "Bread and Drinking Plate" (500 yen), and the white wine "Hareta Natural Burgundy" (700 yen by the glass).

Overflowing Mentaiko French Fries
The "Overflowing Mentaiko French Bread" is a dish that layers five kinds of cheese, including Gouda and red cheddar, on a soft and crispy "Rustic Bread," and is topped with plenty of Spicy Fish Eggs and domestic butter. This is simply luxurious!

Another appealing feature is the lively presentation, where the food is prepared right in front of the customers.

Bread drinking plate
The "Bread and Drinking Plate" is excellent value for money and includes four types of today's bread, potato gratin, two types of cheese, and prosciutto.

The rich aroma of the [Black Truffle Salted Butter] will tickle your nose, the [Sangen Pork Bacon Epi] will bring out the umami of the bacon with the fragrant aroma of whole wheat flour, and the [Smoked Bacon and Gouda Cheese French] has just the right amount of saltiness, making it the perfect pairing with wine.
All three of these breads are popular staple items that are also available as takeout.
The other type is a special baguette made exclusively for the "Bread Drinking Plate."

It is topped with a generous amount of mascarpone and cream cheese and topped with the rich sweetness of honey and figs, giving it a taste that is almost like a rich dessert.
Gratin is a familiar dish made of soft potato salad baked until golden brown with cheese.

Spanish Jamon Serrano and two types of cheese (Gouda and red cheddar) are also great supporting actors that go perfectly with wine.
Hareta Natural
"Hareta Natural Wine" from Australia is an organic wine with a refreshing taste without any bitterness.

It has a gorgeous aroma and minerality, and is a wine that balances well with rich bread and cheese.
