[Tenjin Area] A popular Tokyo restaurant has arrived in Kyushu for the first time! A monja specialty restaurant that also cooks your monja for you!
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who shares the hottest information about Fukuoka.
This time we will introduce Ryogoku Dashi Monja Monji Tenjin Daimyo Branch, which opened in April 2025.
This is a restaurant specializing in monjayaki, a Tokyo downtown gourmet dish, and it's the first time it's opened outside of Tokyo. We also heard that they have a Fukuoka-only menu, so we decided to check it out!
Located near Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City! "Ryogoku Dashi Monja Monji Tenjin Daimyo Branch" (Daimyo, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Ryogoku Dashi Monja Monji Tenjin Daimyo Branch is located in a lively area right next to Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City and across from Fukuoka Growth Next.
It's easily accessible, just an 8-minute walk from Tenjin Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line and a 5-minute walk from Akasaka Station. There are also many cafes and general stores nearby, making it a great place to stop by on your way out.

The key to Monja is "dashi"! Enjoy the fun of choosing from a wide variety of menu items
The charm of "Monji" is undoubtedly its "Monjayaki" that is made with special attention to the "dashi" (broth).

Approximately 30 different ingredients can be combined with three types of dashi: "Three kinds of seafood dashi," "Chanko dashi," and "Western-style creative dashi." There are also menus that combine recommended ingredients.

The ever-popular "Deluxe Seafood Chanko Monja" (2,519 yen) is an excellent choice. The "Seafood Chanko Monja" (1,969 yen) is made even more luxurious with the addition of salmon roe, a combination of plump seafood such as shrimp, squid, and clams, and chanko broth.

Other dishes on the menu range from classics to creative creations, including the "Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monja" (1,859 yen), which features Spicy Fish Eggs, rice cakes, and cheese, and the garlic-flavored "Squid Ink Cheese Risotto Monja" (1,859 yen)!

In addition to monjayaki, there is also a full menu of snacks, such as the "Seafood Ajillo" (869 yen) filled with plenty of squid and shrimp, and the addictive cucumber carpaccio "Kappacho" (605 yen) ♪

Try the highly anticipated Fukuoka-only "Mentaiko Motsumonja"! You'll be hooked!
This time we tried the recommended menu item "Mentaiko Motsumonja" (1,859 yen), which was released on July 1st and is only available at the Tenjin Daimyo store!

Watching the monjayaki sizzle on the hot plate in front of you will make you hungry...! Another great thing about this restaurant is that the staff will cook it for you.

With just one bite, the soft beef offal and the tangy taste of Spicy Fish Eggs go perfectly together! What's more, the gentle umami of the salt chanko broth envelops the whole dish, creating a delicious taste that makes you feel truly happy.

Some people say it's difficult to know when to eat monjayaki, but the staff carefully cooked it for us so we were able to enjoy it at the perfect timing, and it was fragrant right down to the last bite.

Monjayaki is still rare in Fukuoka, but you can enjoy it casually here, and it's great that they even have a limited-time menu.
It's open until late, so it's perfect for lunch, dinner, or as a final stop after a night of drinking! Be sure to check it out! (Text by Hakata Aya)
