[Kurume Izakaya] Boasting outstandingly delicious "ikizukuri" (sashimi made with live fish)! A popular restaurant with a fish tank (Fukuoka)

Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.

This time, we will introduce "Izakaya Hachiku," a famous restaurant in Kurume City where you can enjoy squid delivered directly from Yobuko, Saga.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I got the impression that it is a cut above the rest, and not just "delicious."

So, let me introduce it to you right away!

Enjoy freshly caught fish delivered directly from the source! Izakaya Hachiku, a famous restaurant in Kurume with a fish tank (Kurume City)

We arrived at Towa-cho, Kurume City. It is very accessible, just a 3-minute walk from the east exit of Nishitetsu Kurume Station.

The shop is located along the road and is easy to find, but the parking lot is a little tricky to find, so please check with the shop first if you are coming by car.

The restaurant has tatami seating, sunken kotatsu tables, and private rooms, making it suitable for any occasion.

The thing to note is the large fish tank!

Fresh fish delivered directly from all over Kyushu are swimming about energetically, and just seeing them gets your expectations soaring.

On some days, you can even see the famous Yobuko squid swimming leisurely around. It's a must-see for fish lovers.

However, depending on the fishing conditions and sales the day before, squid may be sold out on some days, so if you really want to go there to catch squid, it might be best to call in advance to check.

The price of "Ikizukuri" varies depending on the size and availability of the fish, so it is a so-called "market price," but the owner's spirit of wanting customers to enjoy it as reasonably as possible is apparent in the price setting. This is a service spirit that is too much appreciated for ordinary people.

In addition, there are about 100 different izakaya menu items on offer.

There is also a wide selection of hotpot dishes on the menu.

So, let's go ahead and order everything that catches your eye.

The delicious "ikizukuri" is second to none! You must eat even the liver of the filefish.

We start with the Yobuko Squid (market price, photo shows 3,900 yen).

The squid that was swimming just a moment ago is quickly and skillfully butchered, and the tentacles are still moving energetically.

Look at this beautiful decoration. It's so bling-bling.

Whew! Mmmmmmm!

Even if you ask, "Is Yobuko squid really that different from regular squid?", once you try it, you'll be ten times more impressed.

Just this one dish was worth the trip. The texture, sweetness, aroma... everything was outstanding.

Something that will make you smile without any explanation needed.

The squid sashimi (free service) can be served as sashimi or tempura, but when I asked for both, they smiled and said yes. I appreciate this kind of flexible response.

First, we had the tentacle sashimi. It had no unpleasant smell and was really delicious.

And then the tentacle tempura arrived.

The homemade tempura sauce was delicious, but what really shocked me was the salted plum. I was so impressed with this way of eating that I wanted to talk about it like I was an expert.

By the way, I would also like to recommend this. Have you ever tried "Live Filefish Sashimi" (market price, 4,300 yen in the photo)?

It's my favorite food, and I got so excited that I had to ask the store clerk twice, "Is it really available today?"

You can eat sashimi anywhere, but what I want to say is

It's the liver of a filefish.

This rich gut is hard to find unless you go to a restaurant that has live filefish.

Izakaya Yatake Cuisine

Of course it's delicious as is, but it's also good wrapped in sashimi...

This thing really flies.

If you like alcohol, this is a must-try dish. Once you taste it with some sake, there's no need for words.

This is a must-try at least once in your life.

Finish by wrapping it in shiso leaves.

Serve with a splash of homemade ponzu sauce.

This one bite has it all.

If there was a ranking of the best meals I've ever had in my life, I'd put this in the top three.

For families or groups, we also recommend the "Sashimi Chopping Board Platter" (2,390 yen for 2-3 servings). The horse mackerel and seasonal fish that were just swimming in the water are presented on a gorgeous plate.

Of course, the food is extremely fresh, and there are many small details to take into consideration, such as homemade soy sauce.

It's things like this that show how serious the owner is.

It's impossible to describe how delicious the sashimi was here (my vocabulary is at a loss).

A selection of carefully selected exquisite dishes!

And this restaurant doesn't just serve fish.

The "Fried Yatake" (690 yen) is also surprisingly delicious.

Chicken marinated in a homemade sauce is deep-fried until crispy. It's like chicken nanban without the tartar sauce.

Eating it with the accompanying vegetables makes for a refreshing and healthy meal.

It's great as a snack to go with alcohol, and also as a side dish for meals.

The specialty "Yatsutake Manju" (350 yen) is also the most popular, so you can't help but order it.

Izakaya Yatake Cuisine

It's like deep-fried taro, but it has a lot of ingredients inside.

Izakaya Yatake Cuisine

I think the reason for its popularity is not only its satisfying and filling taste, but also its mild flavor.

The "Dashimaki Tamago" (590 yen) was served uncut. This is just my imagination, so it may be wrong, but I think it was because the broth would overflow if it was cut.

If the customer can scoop it out with a spoon, it won't be a waste of the delicious broth.

I love dashimaki so much that when I go to an izakaya, I always order it if it's available, but this is definitely one I'll be buying again.

Finish off with a reasonably priced hot pot dish!

In fact, Izakaya Yatake was originally a specialty restaurant that mainly served chanko nabe.

Utilizing this know-how, they are also focusing on hot pot dishes.

Moreover, the price of the "Motsunabe Shoyu Flavor" (1,190 yen per portion) was quite reasonable, so I decided to order it.

To be honest, I regretted ordering hotpot in this hot season, but eating hotpot in a cool restaurant is still a good idea.

It might be a good idea to have this as a final dish after your body has cooled down from the ice-cold beer and sashimi.

They also offer champon noodles (200 yen), so be sure to soak up the delicious soup that's infused with the flavors of the ingredients.

If you're wondering "where should I go for drinks on a night in Kurume," be sure to stop by this place.

This is a store I really want to recommend.

So, please look forward to the next introduction! (Text by Yorimitsu)
