Fun to look at and delicious to eat!

An exciting event will be held where you can purchase local breads from all over Japan in Tenjin, Fukuoka.

[July 2-8, 2025] Breads loved by locals from all over the country will be gathered together! "Local Bread Festival" (Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin store)

Like "Manhattan" in Fukuoka, there are local breads all over Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa. It has long been loved as soul food by the locals, but it is hard to find outside the prefecture.

You can actually buy it at the event space on B2 of the main building of Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin Store from Wednesday, July 2nd to Tuesday, July 8th, 2025!

The "Local Bread Festival" features a wide selection of specialty breads from all over the country. You might even get a taste of traveling!

Let us introduce the breads that will be available at the Local Bread Festival!

Hokkaido

Hokkaido [Nichiryo Bakery] "Yokan Bread" (240 yen)

The bread is coated with yokan and sandwiched with milk-flavored cream made with milk from Hokkaido.

Tohoku Region

Aomori Prefecture [Kudo Pan] "British Toast (Crunchy MAX)" (260 yen), "No Longer Human Castella Sandwich" (360 yen), "Run Melos Brown Sugar Castella Sandwich" (360 yen)

Of particular note is Kudo Pan's long-selling British Toast, which features a perfect harmony of carefully selected margarine, granulated sugar, and soft bread.

Iwate Prefecture [DOUNEL] "Danish Bread Plain" (880 yen), "Rye Sliced Raisin" (280 yen), "Rye Bread Walnut & Fig" (680 yen)

The "Danish Bread Plain" uses homemade natural Levain yeast (fermented yeast). The sheets, rich in the flavor of egg yolk, are layered 54 times by experienced craftsmen, and it takes three days from preparation to baking.

It's crisp on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside. It has the delicious taste of wheat and a strong acidity, and the more you chew it, the more delicious it becomes.

Iwate Prefecture [Orion Bakery] "LL Chikara Anpan (Bean Jam)" (220 yen), "LL Chikara Anpan (Zunda An Milk Flavor)" (220 yen), "LL Chikara Anpan (Bean Jam Salt Butter Flavor)" (220 yen)

"LL Riki Anpan" is lovingly wrapped by hand one by one. It is filled with plenty of bean paste and mochi, and you can enjoy the harmony of the textures of the bread dough, mochi, and bean paste.

Yamagata Prefecture [Taiyo Pan] "Beta Chocolate" (240 yen), "Fukujinzuke Curry Bread (Spicy)" (240 yen), "Wagokoro" (880 yen)

"Beta Chocolate" was released in 1964, the year of the Tokyo Olympics, and has been loved locally for over 60 years.

This is a dish of an open bun with butter cream and chocolate spread boldly on top. It is said that connoisseurs eat it with the bun closed, which makes it even more delicious.

Miyagi Prefecture [Freshly Made Bread] "Cream Sandwich" (240 yen each)

The buns are made using traditional methods and are sandwiched with homemade creams such as peanut cream and black sesame cream.

The dough is kneaded without water, using only fresh eggs, allowing you to enjoy the gentle sweetness and rich flavor of the eggs.

Tochigi Prefecture [Fuji Natural Foods] "Porte 21 Raisin" (580 yen)

This rich, melt-in-your-mouth bread is topped with plenty of raisins, giving it a fruity and mellow flavor.

Yamanashi Prefecture [Rokuyosha] "Maple Apple" (660 yen), "Kintoki Sweet Potato" (660 yen)

"Maple Apple" is made by kneading plenty of maple syrup and crunchy apples into the dough and topping it with apples. The moist maple dough goes perfectly with the sweet and sour taste of the apples!

Toyama Prefecture [Sawaya Foods] "Coffee Snack" (240 yen), "Kombu Bread" (280 yen)

"Coffee Snack" is a coffee-flavored mountain-shaped bread sandwiched with coffee cream. It is full of aroma and is a perennial favorite.

"Milk Bread" has been loved in Maruko, Nagano for half a century! The key to its flavor is the mild butter cream and the bread that remains soft even after a while.

Gifu Prefecture [Koganeppan] "Camembert Melon" (240 yen)

A flat-baked melon bread filled with creamy Camembert cheese. The saltiness of the cheese brings out the sweetness of the melon bread, creating an addictive taste.

Kyoto Prefecture [Bologna] "Kyoto Hanari Anpan with Marron Bean Paste" (320 yen), "Kyoto Hanari Anpan with Ogura Bean Paste" (320 yen)

The "Kyoto Hanari Anpan" is made with Danish dough folded into many layers, and is crispy and chewy, so you're sure to become addicted to it!

Rugby ball shaped curry bread born in Hanazono, Higashi Osaka, the city of rugby.

Shiga Prefecture [Seiyoken] "Fragrant Takuan Bread" (320 yen)

The fluffy rolled bread sandwich is filled with flavorful smoked pickled radish mixed with mayonnaise.

Wakayama Prefecture [Shimotsu Food Service] "Kishu Soft Plum Bread" (280 yen)

The dough is kneaded with pickled Nanko plums and uses honey instead of sugar. This "anpan" is stuffed with Nanko plums marinated in sake and black bean paste.

Hyogo Prefecture [Nishikawa Foods] "Nishikawa Flower" (320 yen), "Baked Curry Bread (using Awaji Island onions)" (220 yen), "Avec" (220 yen)

The highlight is the "Nishikawa Flower," a soft and fluffy two-color dough, standard and caramel, wrapped in vanilla-flavored milk cream, finished with icing that resembles a bouquet of flowers.

Chugoku and Shikoku Region

Shimane Prefecture [Nanpo Pan] "Bara Bread" (260 yen), "Coffee Baara Bread" (280 yen)

"Bara Bread" is a familiar product in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture. As its name suggests, it is made to resemble a rose flower, and has been loved by people of all ages.

Hiroshima Prefecture [Melon Bread] "Melon Bread" (380 yen)

It is made with crispy biscuit dough and soft pastry dough, and is filled with plenty of homemade cream.

Kochi Prefecture [Yamatepan] "Hat Bread" (280 yen)

This is a local bread from Kochi Prefecture. The brim of the hat is made of castella dough.

Kumamoto Prefecture [Takaoka Bakery] "Green Onion Bread" (360 yen)

This bread is made with Kumamoto-grown green onions and bonito flakes processed in Kumamoto, and is finished with a homemade sauce. You can enjoy the taste similar to okonomiyaki.

The donut-like Okinawan local dish "Sata Andagi" will also be available.

Okinawa Prefecture [Okikopan] "Zebra Bread" (390 yen)

A long-selling product of "Okiko". It is filled with peanut cream and is very filling. It is recommended to lightly toast it and eat it so that the cream inside melts a little.
