The fluffy and crispy fried horse mackerel is a must-try! Great value for money at this stylish restaurant with a line every day (Ogori City)

Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.

This time, we will introduce you to a popular lunch spot in Ogori City.

If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by Brooks (Ogori City), a popular restaurant with a wide variety of set meals.

The other day, I went to Ogori City for the first time in a while, and I noticed the roads were crowded...but it turned out to be a line of cars heading into this store.

That place is Brooks, located next to the Nishitetsu train tracks, along Prefectural Route 88. I was curious, so I decided to go in.

It is a 4-minute drive from Nyorin-ji Temple (Kaeru-dera Temple), a tourist attraction in Ogori City, and a 10-minute drive from Costco Ogori.

It was a rainy weekday, and the shop had just opened at 11:00. There was parking for 17 cars, but some customers were unable to fit in and had to leave.

First, you enter the store and write your name and phone number and wait in your car, so there is no line, but we still had to wait 30 minutes. This level of popularity raises expectations.

It hasn't been a big buzz in the media recently, so I'm surprised to hear that this is normal operation.

The interior of the store is bright and casual, and customers of all ages are welcome.

Looking at the menu, the wide variety of set meals catches your eye. The set meals come with rice, miso soup, and pickles, and you can have one free refill of rice and miso soup.

"Chicken steak" (770 yen a la carte, 1,100 yen set meal), "Chicken nanban" (770 yen a la carte, 1,100 yen set meal), "Hamburg steak" (880 yen a la carte, 1,210 yen set meal), "Horse mackerel fry" (825 yen a la carte, 1,155 yen a la carte), "Pork cutlet"

(990 yen for a la carte, 1,320 yen for a set meal), "Pork Ginger Sauce" (770 yen for a la carte, 1,100 yen for a set meal), etc. All are reasonably priced! What's more, it's great that the prices are the same for lunch and dinner.

Other options available include curry, pasta, yakisoba, pizza, "Kids Lunch" (825 yen), and "Junior Lunch" (880 yen).

Another highlight is that you can drink as much coffee as you like from the popular coffee brand Costa Coffee for just 550 yen! It's also great for cafe use.

Try the popular "fried horse mackerel" set meal!

According to the staff, the most popular dishes are the "fried horse mackerel" and the "hamburger steak." However, the "hamburger steak" was already sold out that day.

So this time I decided to order the "Fried Horse Mackerel & Chicken Nanban" (set meal 1,100 yen) and the "Fried Horse Mackerel Mix" (set meal 1,155 yen).

Here comes the "Horse Mackerel Fried & Chicken Nanban". The restaurant was crowded, but I was surprised at how quickly it came.

Although not shown in the photo, it is a set meal and comes with rice, miso soup, pickles, and a small side dish.

Let's start with the fried horse mackerel.

I was careless and thought it was just fried horse mackerel, but when I picked it up, the batter was crispy. Hmm, maybe something's not right... I thought as I took a bite.

It's different from any fried horse mackerel I've ever eaten! It's amazing!

The meat inside the crispy batter tasted like soft boiled fish. I was incredibly impressed.

Before I knew it, he had finished the whole thing. He seemed completely absorbed in eating it.

And let's not forget the chicken nanban, which was covered in a rich, thick sauce and went perfectly with the rice.

This is the "Horse Mackerel Fried Mix" set meal. In addition to the delicious horse mackerel fries, you can also enjoy fried shrimp and chicken cheese wrapped in shiso leaves.

The chicken, cheese and shiso leaf rolls topped with pickled plum had the magic effect of making you hungrier the more you ate them.

Just looking at this photo makes me hungry and reminds me of how delicious it was.

The main course is very filling. The miso soup is also delicious and comforting, and it comes with a small side dish as well.

For a set meal of this quality, I felt that the price of 1,100 yen for the "Horse Mackerel Fried & Chicken Nanban" and 1,155 yen for the "Horse Mackerel Fried Mix" was cheap. I was very satisfied.

Above all, the fried horse mackerel is delicious!

Please come and experience this charm for yourself. See you next time! (Text by Yorimitsu)
