This time, we will introduce a Sri Lankan curry restaurant where you can fully enjoy the charm of spices and fermentation. We enjoyed authentic Sri Lankan curry, with the aroma of spices making our hearts flutter!

A one-minute walk from Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the Subway Airport Line or Hakozaki Line, "& Sri Lanka Nakasu-Kawabata Branch" is a stylish curry restaurant located in Kawabata Shopping Arcade, which can be found at the bottom of the stairs leading to the basement.

From July 1st, the decorated Yamakasa floats of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival will be set up nearby, making this a convenient shop to drop by when you're out and about!
This restaurant originally operated in Yakuin as the second branch of the popular restaurant "R Sri Lanka" called "R Sri Lanka +", but due to the aging of the building, it will move to Nakasu Kawabata in the spring of 2024 and reopen with a new name.

Upon stepping inside the store, your eye will be drawn to the dynamic elephant illustrations that cover the entire wall! This is the work of Nobosemon Nabe, a comedian active in Fukuoka, and it adds a touch of warmth and artistic color to the space.

Although it was a weekday, customers came in one after another as soon as the store opened, and the seats filled up in no time.
Very filling! The most popular dish is the pork shoulder steak curry.
The popular menu item is the "Pork Shoulder Steak Curry" (regular 1,500 yen, half 1,200 yen). The regular portion has 200g of meat, while the half portion has half that amount, at 100g. This time I ordered the half portion.
One of the ways to enjoy "& Sri Lanka" is through the "toppings". I added "mashed potatoes", "sweet and spicy chili flakes with dried shrimp", and "grilled cheese" (200 yen each). By the way, it's hard to see because the "grilled cheese" is on top, but

You can choose from five levels of spiciness, and this time I wanted something a little spicy so I ordered level 2.5.

The pork shoulder is grilled to a moist and juicy finish, flavored with spices and so tender that it melts in your mouth.

The sweet and spicy dried shrimp chili flakes topping has a strong, pleasant aroma of dried shrimp, further enhancing the range of flavors.
The 2.5 level of spiciness was quite spicy even for me, who likes spicy food. The richness of the grilled cheese and the gentle sweetness of the mashed potatoes were in perfect harmony, making it a masterpiece that left me wanting more!

Very popular among women! "Chicken, grilled tomato and cheese curry"
If you're a cheese lover, we recommend the "Chicken and Grilled Tomato Cheese Curry" (1,300 yen). I ordered this at the mild level of spiciness.
The chicken marinated in shio-koji is very tender, and the sweetness of the roasted tomatoes, the richness of the melted cheese, and the exquisite harmony of spices fill your mouth!
