This time, we will introduce you to a restaurant in Yukuhashi City that serves excellent "authentic Neapolitan pizza" ♪

Enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza baked by a craftsman in a wood-fired oven! "Pizzeria Da Giorgio" (Yukuhashi City)

Pizzeria Da Giorgio is located a 10-minute walk from JR Nippō Main Line's Yukuhashi Station, along National Route 201.

Opened in July 2013, this restaurant serves authentic Neapolitan pizza, made by the owner, a pizza chef who trained in Naples, Italy, the birthplace of pizza.

They are so passionate about Naples that they use all of their ingredients, including flour, seasonings, and even plates, all made in Italy.

There are three tables, so it is easy to use for both individuals and families. I visited the restaurant on a Saturday just after it opened, but it is a popular restaurant and filled up in no time!

At the back of the shop, there is a huge wood-fired oven imported from Naples, and the temperature inside the oven is over 400℃! You can even feel the heat from the counter seats closest to the oven.

"Pizzeria Da Giorgio" is also a restaurant that was featured as a "Michelin Plate" in the "Michelin Guide Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki 2019 Special Edition."

The pizza baked at high temperature has a crispy and fluffy crust and a chewy center! The lunch set with salad is a great deal.

When an order is placed, the pizza dough is stretched by hand, topped with ingredients, and then placed in the wood-fired oven. It is rotated using a long spatula to prevent it from burning.

We will introduce the taste of each pizza later, but the pizza baked in the high-temperature wood-fired oven has a crispy and fluffy crust and a chewy texture inside. The aroma that can only be achieved by baking in an oven is irresistible!

During lunchtime, the "Selectable Pizza Lunch Set" (from 1,000 yen) which comes with a salad is a great deal (one drink order required).

You can choose from a total of 10 types of pizza: 5 tomato sauce-based and 5 mozzarella cheese-based.

You can also change the mozzarella cheese on any pizza to the milkier, richer "buffalo mozzarella cheese" for an additional 500 yen.

First, let me introduce the tomato sauce-based pizza I ate.

Margherita

If you can't decide, try this! The most popular Neapolitan pizza is the "Margherita" (1,300 yen). This tomato sauce-based pizza is topped with plenty of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil.

The savory dough is combined with sour tomato sauce and rich cheese for an exquisite taste!

This has become my favorite Margherita I have ever eaten.

Marinara

This is the "Marinara" (1,000 yen), a cheese-free pizza made with tomato sauce, oregano, garlic, and basil.

When it was brought to my table, I could smell the delicious aroma of oregano ♡ It had a strong hint of garlic and a simple yet authentic flavor.

Mice

"Mais" (1,400 yen) is a dish of plenty of mozzarella cheese topped with corn, ham, and fresh cream. "Mais" means "corn" in Italian.

"Quattro Formaggi" (1,800 yen) topped with four kinds of cheese. Served with the accompanying maple syrup.

The four types of cheese used are mozzarella, gorgonzola, provola affumicata (smoked buffalo cheese), and Parmigiano Reggiano.

I was amazed by how delicious it was after just one bite ♡ The rich flavor of the four kinds of stretchy cheese melted together was a perfect match with the sweet maple syrup, and the sweet and salty flavour was addictively delicious.
