[Ogura Lunch] Incredibly delicious! Izakaya's proud plump and juicy "Chicken Nanban Set Meal"
Hello. This is Chihilog, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka and its surrounding areas, with a focus on gourmet food.
This time, we will introduce a delicious chicken nanban lunch that was absolutely amazing!
Extremely cozy! Izakaya "Tsumugi Biyori" (Sunatsu, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City) boasts excellent cuisine
"Tsumugi Biyori" is an izakaya restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from "Chacha Town Kokura" and about a 20-minute walk from JR Kokura Station.
This restaurant is well-known for its delicious evening menu items, such as "Yam Tororo Hot Pot" and "Homemade Chili Oil Hot Pot."

The interior of the restaurant is a stylish space with table and counter seating.

The kitchen is open, and when you sit at the counter, you'll be thrilled by the owner's skillful handling of the food.

I visited alone that day, but the owner was friendly and kind, and I had a very enjoyable time.
From the affordable 600 yen "meat udon" to a set meal that will make you want to eat more rice! A lunch that will make you want to eat more!
After being closed for a while, Tsumugi Biyori's lunch service will resume in May 2025!
Hours are 11:00-14:30 (last orders 14:00). Lunch is served every day except Wednesdays and Thursdays (they also have other irregular closing days).
The menu for the day consisted of five dishes: the reasonably priced Kokura specialty "Niku Udon" for 600 yen, "Chicken Nanban Set Meal" (900 yen), "Horse Mackerel Fried Set Meal" (900 yen), "Chicken Tempura Set Meal" (900 yen), and "Taiwan Ramen" (800 yen).
After much deliberation, I decided to order the Chicken Nanban Set Meal. It was colorful and filling, and I was excited from the moment it was brought to me!

The chicken nanban was served with five large pieces. The crispy texture when you bite into the freshly fried chicken, the plump and juicy texture of the chicken, and the juicy meat juice that oozes out afterwards were irresistible!
They use chicken breast meat from Kyushu, and they even pay special attention to how it is cut to ensure a moist and soft texture.

The tartar sauce is a recipe directly from a long-established chicken nanban restaurant in Miyazaki, and has been modified to match Tsumugi Biyori's sweet and sour flavor. Tartar sauce lovers will be happy to know that you can add more for an additional 100 yen.
This dish was packed with professional techniques and was incredibly delicious! It was a dish that made me happy.

The miso soup is also very delicious, with a rich miso aroma and plenty of ingredients!
The owner apparently tasted and compared different types of miso and blended several of his favorites.
On this day it was eggplant and tofu, but the ingredients change daily.

The side dishes change daily and are all handmade. On this day, the dish was homemade potato salad, which really brought out the deliciousness of potatoes.

The rice in the set meal comes with a nice service where you can get extra large portions for free (although I asked for a smaller portion this time).
Rice is 100 yen on its own, and can also be ordered with meat udon or Taiwanese ramen.

You can also add individual side dishes to your set meal! You can add "Fried Horse Mackerel" (2 pieces, 450 yen), "Chicken Nanban" (550 yen), "Chicken Tempura" (450 yen), and "Tartar Sauce" (100 yen).
All alcoholic drinks were 500 yen, soft drinks were 250 yen, and water was a 500ml bottle (100 yen). I ordered water, and since it was a bottle, I took it home.
The food at this lunch was inspired by the restaurant's desire to have customers enjoy a variety of delicious food. The food was so delicious it made me want to tell everyone about it.
The menu is quite affordable even for Kokura, so be sure to stop by. (Text by CHIHIRO)
