This time, we visited Yusentei, a restaurant in Jonan Ward, Fukuoka City, where you can enjoy an excellent tempura bowl. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the bowl lunch is less than 1,000 yen! Let us introduce it to you right away.

Get great deals on rice bowls on different days of the week! Kappado (Yusentei, Jonan Ward, Fukuoka City), a popular lunch spot loved by locals

Kappado is located a 5-minute drive from Chayama Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line. It is on the first floor of a building along the Aburayama Tourist Road, with the Hii River flowing right in front of the store.

It is open only during lunchtime from 11:00 to 15:00. It is popular for its "izakaya lunch" which includes set meals such as the "daily set meal" (850 yen) and the "tempura set meal" (950 yen), rice bowls such as the "seafood bowl" (1,000 yen), and alcoholic beverages, and is crowded with many people every day.

Mondays and Thursdays are "Seafood Bowl Days." The seafood bowl, which normally costs 1,000 yen, is offered for 700 yen, with a limit of 10 bowls per day.

Wednesdays and Saturdays are "Tempura Bowl Days," and on these days you can enjoy the "Shrimp Tempura Bowl," "Pork Tempura Bowl," and "Mixed Tempura Bowl," which normally cost 1,200 yen, for just 980 yen, with a limit of five of each per day.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, we offer a hearty and delicious Tendon bowl for just 980 yen.

This time, I ordered three types of tempura bowls.

Both come with fish soup and pickles and usually cost 1,200 yen (980 yen on Wednesdays and Saturdays, limited to five meals per day).

I'll introduce them in order.

Shrimp Tendon

A hearty "Shrimp Tempura Bowl" topped with two kinds of vegetables (eggplant and bell pepper) and five large, meaty shrimp.

The sauce is served separately, so you can enjoy the crispy texture of the batter.

This sauce is made by adding tempura scraps to regular soup to give it a thick consistency, so we recommend dipping tempura in it rather than pouring it over a bowl of rice.

Pork Tendon

The "Buta Tendon" is piled high with six extra-large, thinly sliced pork shoulder tempura!

The meat is sweet and very tender. Pork tempura bowl is a rare treat, but I think I'll be hooked!

Mixed Tendon

The "Mixed Tendon" is recommended for those who are greedy and want to eat both 3 shrimp and 3 pieces of pork.

The fish soup, made with white fish stock and wrapped in the gentleness of white miso, is a hearty bowl of soup that is perfect for refreshing after a hearty meal of tempura.
