[New Tenjin store] The first in Fukuoka! A stylish cafe with a wide selection of Japanese sweets and lunches (One Building)
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves all things HOT in Fukuoka.
This time we will introduce "Wa Cafe Tsumugi Fukuoka Tenjin Branch." It is a relaxing space where you can enjoy Japanese sweets made with carefully selected ingredients and high-quality Japanese tea.
Relax in a Japanese atmosphere♪ First appearance in Fukuoka: "Japanese Cafe Tsumugi Fukuoka Tenjin Store" (One Building)
The first Japanese cafe in Fukuoka, "Wa Cafe Tsumugi Fukuoka Tenjin Store," will open on the third floor of "ONE FUKUOKA BLDG." (commonly known as One Building), Tenjin's new landmark, which opened on April 24, 2025.
"Wa Cafe Tsumugi" has stores mainly in the Kanto area, and this One Building store is the 18th store.

The third floor of One Building is lined with stores selling fashion items and miscellaneous goods, making it the perfect place to drop in between shopping.

The interior of the store has an open feel with light pouring in through the high ceilings and large windows, and the chic indigo-based interior creates a calming atmosphere.

It is spacious with a total of 80 seats, and the layout is designed to be comfortable for both single diners and groups.

This is a special seat where you can get a first-class view of the flower art "Future Bloom" on the wall of One Building, created by Nicolai Bergmann.

The moment you put it in your mouth, it melts away! I was impressed by the "Natural Water Shaved Ice"
A popular menu item is the visually stunning "Natural Water Shaved Ice."
Among the flavors available, such as "Rich Strawberry Milk" and "Tafu Koshunen Matcha & Hokkaido Azuki Beans," I chose the "Peach and Shinshu Plateau Milk" (1,485 yen, also available in a small size for 1,155 yen).

The pale pink ice is fluffy and looks like cottony snow. It is topped with chunks of peach pulp and whipped cream, and you can add your own toppings of "Oiri," a traditional sweet from Kagawa Prefecture made from glutinous rice.

The ice is made from natural water from one of the country's leading granite regions, frozen and then shaved into extremely thin strips. An automatic cooking robot specially designed for shaved ice is used, ensuring a beautiful, fluffy finish.
The feeling of it melting away the moment you put it in your mouth is addictive!
The accompanying "Shinshu Plateau Milk" is a rich milk syrup made from milk from the Komagane Plateau in Nagano Prefecture, with an exquisite balance of sweetness and mellowness.
This is an excellent product that you will definitely want to buy again as summer approaches.

Take a break with a fragrant cup of "Japanese herbal tea"
To accompany your sweets or meal, be sure to try the Japanese tea and herbal tea from Fukuro Koshun-en Main Store, a Japanese tea specialty store in Osaka with a history of 160 years.

The "Peach Deep Steamed Sencha" (770 yen for a single item, 418 yen for a set drink) that I tried this time has a refreshing taste with a subtle sweet peach aroma. It contains diced peaches, so you can enjoy the fruity taste. It is well balanced with the richness of the deep steamed sencha, and goes great with sweets.

Takeaway items include the beauty-conscious "Beppincha" tea and seasonal teas, which will add a touch of luxury to your tea time.

Don't miss out on the tempting Japanese sweets!
In addition to the shaved ice introduced this time, there is also "Yakimitarashi and Houjicha Cream Anmitsu" (990 yen, photo)

There are plenty of playful Japanese sweets on offer, such as the "Taken Together Parfait," "Hojicha Mont Blanc with Japanese Chestnuts and Scorched Soybean Flour," and "Japanese Afternoon Tea - A Taste Comparison of Luxurious Tsumugi Sweets" (photo below).

They also have a wide variety of food options, such as "Chicken with Shiso Tartar Nanban" (1,540 yen, in the foreground of the photo), so it's recommended not only for cafe use but also for lunch time. They also have a kids' menu limited to elementary school children.
