[First in Kyushu] A lifestyle shop (One Building) with rice and other goods that will invigorate your love for rice
Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.
This time, we will introduce a popular lifestyle shop located on the second basement floor of "ONE FUKUOKA BLDG." (commonly known as One Building), a new landmark that opened in April 2025 in Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City.
The first in Kyushu! Enjoy the depth of rice at "AKOMEYA TOKYO ONE FUKUOKA BLDG." (Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
AKOMEYA TOKYO, based in Ginza, Tokyo, started with the desire to "spread the deliciousness that starts with a bowl of freshly cooked rice," and currently operates 29 stores nationwide (as of May 2025).
This lifestyle shop sells carefully selected rice from all over the country, foods that go perfectly with rice, such as side dishes and soup stock, as well as household goods such as tableware and cooking utensils.

The first directly managed store to open in Kyushu is AKOMEYA TOKYO ONE FUKUOKA BLDG.

The first thing that catches your eye when you enter the store is the over 20 varieties of rice carefully selected from all over the country!
Each one comes with a poster explaining its flavor and the characteristics of its place of origin, and just looking at them is exciting.

The cute square vacuum pack in the photo contains two cups of rice (700 to 1300 yen). It makes you want to try different kinds of rice! It would also make a great little gift.

We also have boxes that are perfect for gifts.

The "Yumetsukushi from Fukuoka Prefecture" (800 yen), an original label product from "AKOMEYA TOKYO ONE FUKUOKA BLDG.", comes in a package perfect for a Fukuoka souvenir. It is not too sticky, and when cooked it is fluffy and soft. Its best feature is that it retains its flavor even when cooled, so it is recommended for onigiri and bento. Only 700 are available, so if you're interested, hurry up!

What surprised me even more was the section where you could choose the style of rice you wanted polished.

Image: Hakata Aya.
You can choose the degree of polishing you prefer, such as brown rice, one-third polished rice, or one-fifth polished rice, and they will polish the rice for you on the spot.

Rice can be purchased by weight in 1kg (6 go) increments. There are over 10 varieties to choose from, so it might be a good idea to start by buying a small amount. The recommended degree of polishing is 50% and 70%!
It's fun to find the perfect rice for you, and being able to buy freshly milled rice is appealing.

"Rice accompaniments and seasonings" that make rice even more delicious
AKOMEYA TOKYO also offers rice accompaniments and seasonings. Among the products selected by buyers from all over Japan, only the "delicious items" that have passed the selection process at in-house tasting sessions are carefully selected.

There are so many fish-based accompaniments for rice alone, such as the "Grilled Shredded Silver Salmon" (800 yen), which is silver salmon seasoned only with sun-dried salt and local Miyagi sake and roughly shredded into large pieces, and the "Heisho Shoten Crumbly Sanma" (880 yen), which is minced minced sanma made from the whole fish from head to bone, with carrots and burdock root!

It's great to be able to easily purchase AKOMEYA TOKYO's original products in Fukuoka, including the hugely popular "Takikomi Gohan Sauce - Sea Bream Rice (for 2 cups of rice)" (1,566 yen), which uses the prized sea bream from the Seto Inland Sea, and the "Sea Urchin Rice Sauce" shown in the photo (2,592 yen)...!

Among the many products, be sure to check out the long-selling "Sesame Dressing" (540 yen for a stand pack, 1,404 yen for a bottle), which has sold over 300,000 units! Soy sauce flavored sesame is mixed with almonds and bonito flakes to create a fragrant flavor. It's great for dressing vegetables with sesame, as well as for sprinkling or topping.

Also pay attention to the kitchen goods that will add color to your delicious life!
AKOMEYA TOKYO also stocks dining utensils and miscellaneous goods to enrich mealtimes. In addition to tableware and glasses made from Hasami ware and Mino ware...

Other original products worth checking out include the renowned "Arita Ware Black Glazed Rice Clay Pot 3 Go" (22,000 yen), which is sure to turn out well, and the "Kiso Sawara Rice Container 5 Go" (26,400 yen), which allows you to store rice deliciously.

The most unique item was the "Rice Ball Mold" (small 2,200 yen, large 2,530 yen, extra large 3,300 yen). It is a hinoki mold that makes it easy to make fluffy rice balls. Rice balls made with this mold have a subtle hinoki scent and are said to be exceptional in both taste and appearance.
The recommended serving size is 60g for a small serving, 100g for a large serving, and 150g for an extra-large serving. I couldn't help but laugh at the sheer size of the extra-large serving.

The popular "Kaya Fabric Dishcloth" (660 yen) is based on mosquito net fabric woven in Nara Prefecture and carefully printed by artisans in Wakayama Prefecture, and also comes with a limited edition design for "AKOMEYA TOKYO ONE FUKUOKA BLDG." There are only 500 of these, so you're lucky if you find one!

They also have a wide selection of gift sets that would make great presents, so it's also recommended for those looking for a present for a special someone.
