[Fujisaki Area Bakery] A superb selection of products! A very popular shop run by an Italian chef and pastry chef couple (Fukuoka)
Hello. I'm Sho Fujita, a restaurant marketer who prefers bread for breakfast.
This time, we will introduce you to a bakery in the Fujisaki area that is loved by locals and has a charming bread and atmosphere.
Just a two-minute walk from Fujisaki Station! A popular bakery loved by the locals: "BAKELUCK" (Momochi, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City)
About 2 minutes walk from Fujisaki Station on the Subway Kuko Line.
The bakery "BAKELUCK" comes into view as you walk down the alley opposite Sawara Ward Office.
It is located in a corner of a lushly planted building that was renovated from a 50-year-old apartment building, and has a cafe-like exterior that looks like something out of a foreign movie.

The shop is run by the husband and wife team, Ryutaro Yamaguchi and Aya.
While working as an Italian chef, Yamaguchi met pastry chef Aya at the hotel where he was employed.
With the belief that they could create a unique bakery by utilizing their respective skills, they trained at other bakeries and then opened BAKELUCK in October 2023.

Its popularity gradually spread through word of mouth, and it has now become a hugely popular restaurant beloved by local residents.
In front of the store, plants and dried flowers that were given by customers decorate the entrance.

Approximately 60 varieties! A lineup of attractive breads and baked goods
When you step inside the store, you'll be greeted by about 60 types of bread and baked goods.
In addition to the standard sliced bread and hard breads, the lineup also includes unique sweet breads, savory breads, sandwiches, and cakes, making it a fun one to just look at.

The variety of breads and baked goods has steadily increased since the shop first opened.
According to Yamaguchi, each product has its own fans, so it would be difficult to reduce the number of products.

Some breads are developed to suit the tastes of individual customers, such as vegetable-based bread made for vegetarian regulars.
One of the charms of BAKELUCK is the warmth it shows in valuing relationships with customers.

Introducing popular and unique products from "BAKELUCK"
The most popular item since the shop opened is the "Mackerel Sandwich" (470 yen).

The mackerel is marinated overnight in a variety of spices and herbs before being grilled, giving it a refined flavor without any unpleasant fishiness.
Sandwiched between soft cereal bread along with homemade carrot rapée and coriander, this is a meticulous masterpiece that only Yamaguchi, a former Italian chef, could come up with.
The second most popular item is the "Focaccia" (1/4 cut, 380 yen), made with domestic wheat and raisin yeast.

By mixing cooked rice into a paste, the moisturizing power is increased, and you can enjoy an amazingly chewy texture even after a while.
The rich flavor of the olive oil makes it a useful bread to eat not only on its own, but also with pasta or soup.
When re-baking, it is recommended to spray water on it with a spray bottle and lightly bake the surface in a high-temperature oven or toaster.
Another popular dish is "Green Onion Miso and Cream Cheese" (320 yen), which combines the rich cream cheese with the sweetness of green onion miso.

Yamaguchi purchases vegetables, including green onions, after selecting them at farm shops on his days off.
Another great thing about this shop is the wide selection of breads made with fresh, seasonal vegetables.
The most popular item among regular customers is the "Cereal Bread" (half a loaf, 350 yen).

Four types of grains - sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, oats, and white sesame seeds - are cooked once and then mixed into the dough, which prevents the grains from absorbing moisture and gives the bread a soft, chewy texture.
Another recommended item is the "Massaman Curry Bread" (330 yen), which Yamaguchi makes using a spice blend.

The curry uses Vietnamese fish sauce called "nuoc mam," which was given to the restaurant by a customer.
This is a satisfying curry bread with soft dough using less oil and filled with tender, fall-away chicken.
The most popular sweet bread is the "Florentin Croquant" (260 yen), which is made by baking chopped croissant dough together with Florentin dough until fragrant.

The outside is crispy and the inside is moist, layered with crunchy caramel, allowing you to enjoy a variety of textures in just one bite.
It seems that sales will be suspended during the summer, so if you're interested, be sure to get it soon!
They also have a wide selection of breads that are popular with children, such as "Matcha Viennois" (290 yen), "Corn Gratin" (280 yen), "Melon Bread" (230 yen), and "Cinnamon Roll" (250 yen).
The Cinnamon Roll uses sugar icing instead of the typical cream cheese, and has a subtle amount of cinnamon, so it seems to have many fans among children as well as adults.

Attracted by the shop's highly original bread, customers line up before the shop opens on weekdays, and on Saturdays there are often long lines from early in the morning.
The recommended time to visit is between 11am and 12pm, when the queues have calmed down and there is a wide selection of products.

You can also eat the bread you purchase on the terrace behind the store, adjacent to Momochi Minami Park!
On a sunny day, you can enjoy a blissful lunch on the terrace, savoring freshly baked bread.
