[Tenjin's most popular restaurant] Customize your own dish by choosing your ingredients! Malatang (Fukuoka City) worth waiting in line for

Hello! I'm Hakata Aya, a writer who loves hot information about Fukuoka.

This time, we will introduce you to a Malatang specialty restaurant in the Tenjin Minami area that has long lines of people waiting to get in.

Yang Guofu Malatang Fukuoka Tenjin Branch (Watanabedori, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City), a popular restaurant with over 6,000 branches in China

"Yogofuku Malatang Fukuoka Tenjin Branch" is located right next to Exit 6 of Tenjin Minami Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line.

This popular malatang specialty restaurant has over 6,000 stores in China.

At the moment, the only store in the Kyushu area is the Fukuoka Tenjin store!

The shop opens at 11:00. I arrived at around 10:30 on a weekday and was able to be at the front of the line. The number of people gradually increased immediately after I lined up, and there were about 15 groups before the shop opened! It takes time to choose your ingredients, so I recommend going as early as possible.

Choose your soup and ingredients to create your own bowl!

The most attractive feature of this restaurant is the buffet style where you can choose your own ingredients.

You can choose from over 60 types of ingredients, including noodles, vegetables, meat, seafood, fish paste, and mushrooms, and pay 400 yen per 100g.

There are six types of noodles available: knife-cut noodles, rice noodles, corn noodles, sweet potato vermicelli, gyusuji noodles, and instant ramen.

If you spend over 1,000 yen, you can choose from four types of noodles (rice noodles, corn noodles, sweet potato vermicelli, and gyusuji noodles) and get 80g of them for free!

You choose your ingredients using a bowl and tongs, then pay at the register.

These are the ingredients I chose. I tried to make it healthy by focusing on leafy vegetables!

My goal was to get it to exactly 1,000 yen, but before I knew it, I had taken 432g, so it ended up being in the 1,700 yen range (lol).

When measuring your order at the register, choose your soup and spiciness.

You can choose from beef bone soup, mala soup, eggplant soup (tomato soup), mala mix (mixed with mala), and fragrant red chili oil soup, and the spiciness can be adjusted to five levels.

This time I went for the classic malatang, with the normal level of spiciness.

The condiment corner has sugar, black vinegar, hemp oil, etc., so you can adjust the seasoning to your liking. If you can handle a lot of spice, you can add extra spicy. We recommend trying the first bite first and then adding more.

Let's try it! The spiciness of the addictive "Mala Tang"

Once you've placed your order, head up to the second floor where you'll find a large table. The seats are quite close together, but this gives the place a real restaurant feel.

At the very back there are counter seats where you can view the Tenjin cityscape.

This is the "malatang" I ordered.

The ingredients include chrysanthemum, lettuce, bok choy, squid tentacles, rice cakes, beef, wood ear mushrooms, white jellyfish, fried eggs, and dumplings with crab roe... there's loads! It's great to be able to enjoy so much for under 1,800 yen.

The "Dumplings with Crab Roe" that are a hot topic on social media are a masterpiece that has a kamaboko-like texture and is brimming with flavor! It's also cute in appearance, so it's no wonder it's so popular.

The soup itself was milder than I expected at first, but the spiciness gradually increased over time, and by the time I finished eating, I needed a drink.

That said, I personally found it spicy enough that I could enjoy it all the way to the end, so next time I'll try it a little spicier!

If you use mostly vegetable ingredients, you'll have a hearty yet healthy lunch.

You'll surely get hooked on the fun of making your own bowl of ramen and the addictive, deliciously spicy soup!

If you're interested, try it out early in the day. (Text by Aya Hakata)
