[Tenjin Night Cafe] Open until 1:00am! A very popular shop where fashionable coffee connoisseurs gather (Fukuoka City)

Hello! This is the ARNE student editorial team.

This time, two members from Seinan Gakuin University (Fukuzawa and Nagao) will introduce cafes in the Tenjin area that are fun until late at night.

Open until 1:00am! A popular coffee shop for coffee connoisseurs: "Manucoffee Daimyo" (Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka)

Manucoffee has been at the forefront of Fukuoka's coffee culture since 2003. It's a shop that every coffee lover knows about, but it's also popular among us Gen Z members.

There are four stores in total: Daimyo, Haruyoshi, and Yakuin Kujira in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, and "Manua Stand by team manucoffee" in Kin, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City. The "Daimyo" store we will introduce this time has been open since 2011. It is about a 5-minute walk from the south exit of Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, and is located in a secluded area between buildings along Kokutai Road.

It's open until 1:00am and is in a great location, so it's perfect for a late-night stop after shopping or drinking in Tenjin. The subdued lighting and the secluded feel of a place off the main road give it a mature feel, and I think it's even more charming at night.

By the way, one of the origins of the store's name is "manufacture." Under the slogan "From Seed to Cup," they do everything themselves, from buying the beans to roasting and serving the coffee.

The interior of the store is a vibrant yellow, which is said to represent the color of raw coffee beans before they are roasted.

There is art everywhere, and it's a very stylish space. It naturally lifts your spirits!

There are a total of 48 seats, including table seats, sofa seats, and terrace seats, so you don't have to worry even if there are a lot of customers. Dogs are also allowed.

According to the shop staff, it gets busy from early afternoon to early evening and around 8pm. If you want to take it easy, the best times to come are in the morning and around 7pm.

Their signature products are a wide variety of espresso drinks, including cafe lattes and cappuccinos. The "First Order Coffee" (580 yen), which offers the day's special, and "French Press Coffee" (700 yen) are also popular.

Of course, apart from coffee, they also have a selection of fresh juices and teas, as well as alcoholic drinks such as "beer" and "highballs" (900 yen each) and "short chu" (600 yen)!

You can also enjoy homemade sweets and food.

This time, I ordered the recommended menu item recommended by the staff at the restaurant.

This is the "Manulatte" (750 yen) with its cute latte art.

It is smooth and easy to drink, with a clean aftertaste.

The balance of espresso and milk is just right! It's so delicious you'll want to keep drinking it.

It's easy to see why "manucoffee" is so popular. It goes perfectly with sweets.

This is the "Secret Banana Shake" (850 yen), which caught my eye with its name.

You can really taste the rich banana flavor and milk flavor. The cinnamon scent is also great. It was so delicious that I gulped it down in one go.

The homemade "Cheesecake" (400 yen) is not too sticky and has a light texture. It has just the right amount of sweetness, so you'll finish it in no time!

The homemade "Monster Biscuits" (390 yen) come in a cute package.

It was crispy, and the aroma and flavor of butter spread with every bite. The sweetness was also exquisite! It was thick and satisfying to eat.

It tastes even better when eaten with a latte.

A precious drink that can only be enjoyed now

The Cup of Excellence (COE) is an international competition (sponsored by the Alliance for Coffee of Excellence) that determines the best specialty coffee of the year in coffee-producing countries. The coffee from Los Alpes (Geisha variety), which won first place in the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence 2024, is now available at all manucoffee stores.

Although it is not a very affordable coffee (1,800 yen), it is a rare treat. With its wonderful sweetness and rose tea flavor, it is said to be "a cup that will surely make you addicted to coffee."

It will be available until mid-April, but will end when stock runs out, so if you're interested, be sure to get it soon!

The Manu'a Project: A recycling initiative centered on coffee

Since 2020, manucoffee has been running the Manu'a Project, an environmental project to create a new circulation system based on coffee.

Together with the Kanazawa Bio Research Institute, a specialist soil research institute, they developed an organic fertilizer called "Manua" (300 yen, photo below), which reuses the bean grounds that are inevitably produced when brewing coffee and the chaff (thin skin) that is produced after roasting.

They are also cultivating vegetables and coffee trees in Manu no Sato, a farmland made using Manu'a wood adjacent to Kanatake no Sato Park in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City.

They are also taking steps to reduce waste produced in their stores, such as installing a compost box at the Daimyo store and using sugarcane straws in all stores.

We will be keeping a close eye on future developments in the Manua Project.

It was a great opportunity to learn about the depth and appeal of coffee. The wide selection of original goods with a particular focus on design is also worth checking out.
