Take-out available until 9pm! A cake shop with an excellent selection of cakes that also offers eat-in options (Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Hello. I'm Momo, a sweet tooth who loves sweets.
This time, we will introduce a cake shop located in Kaharaguchi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City.
Open until 9pm! Gluten-free sweets shop "Patisserie & Cafe MIMOSA" (Kaharaguchi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Patisserie & Cafe MIMOSA is located about a 3-minute walk from Mihagino Station, Kaharaguchi, Kitakyushu Monorail.
This cake shop, which offers both eat-in and take-out, was opened in 2022 by pastry chef Kida, who grew up in Kitakyushu, with the desire to "give back to Kyushu, the land where I was born and raised!"
The flower language of mimosa is gratitude and compassion. The name "MIMOSA" was chosen with the hope that "with gratitude for the sweets we make, many flowers of smiles will bloom."
They use ingredients from Kyushu and sell healthy gluten-free sweets made using rice flour, beet sugar, and maple syrup instead of wheat flour and sugar.
The light green building is the landmark.

When you enter the store, you'll be greeted by the sweet aroma of baked goods.
The showcase has about 10 types of cakes lined up, including standard cakes, seasonal cakes, cakes of the day, and puddings.

Next to the display case are canelés and baked goods, with the "Rice Flour Canelé" being particularly popular! It was sold out on the day I visited.
Eat-in OK! Great value cake and drink set
The cakes and baked goods in the display case can be eaten in (until 8 p.m., until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays) or taken away (until 9 p.m.).
If you choose to eat in, you must order one drink and the time limit is 90 minutes. Drinks are available at a discounted set price.
Coffee is reasonably priced, starting from 330 yen but in sets starting from 275 yen, and soft drinks are all 220 yen but in sets starting from 165 yen.

The eat-in cafe space is located at the back, down a narrow path next to the shop, making it feel like a hidden gem.

It seems that the restaurant is a renovated old house, and has a calming vintage feel.

I'll introduce the cake I received this time.
Basque cheese made from rice flour (vanilla)
Gluten-free "Rice Flour Basque Cheese (Vanilla)" (550 yen) made with rice flour.

Image: momo
It's slightly sweet with vanilla, and melts in your mouth smoothly and is moist and rich! It also has a nice aroma, and once you try it you'll be hooked on how delicious it is.

Beet sugar chocolate cake
The gluten-free "Beet Sugar Chocolate Cake" (570 yen) is made using beet sugar (a natural sugar produced from sugar beets grown in Hokkaido).

Image: momo
It has a gentle sweetness and is very easy to eat, and goes great with coffee! The organic chocolate chips add a nice accent, and you can eat it forever.

Set drink
For drinks, I chose "Large Hot Coffee (Blend)" (275 yen with a set discount, 330 yen on its own) and "Milk Cocoa (Hot)" (165 yen with a set discount, 220 yen on its own).

You can choose between a large or small size of hot coffee, and both are available at the same price. It's poured generously into a large cup, so it's very reasonably priced! You can enjoy a relaxing cafe time with a piece of cake.
Also recommended as a gift
The cakes in the display case are available for take-out. If there are any products left, they are open until 9pm, so it's nice to stop by after work.
This time I ordered the "Beet Sugar Pudding (Vanilla)" (330 yen). This gluten-free pudding is made with beet sugar and has a slightly firm texture. It is full of vanilla beans, has a nice aroma, and is naturally sweet. It is also perfect as a gift.

I was so hooked on the deliciousness of the cakes at this shop that I got some takeout again on another day.
The "Amaou Strawberry Rice Flour Shortcake" (770 yen) is the perfect match of the moderately sweet "MIMOSA" original fresh cream and the sweet and sour Amaou strawberries. It's my personal favorite.

It is also possible to order a whole cake if you make a reservation between three days in advance and 2pm on the day of the event.
