[Popular Tenjin Area Shop] Experience the travelling mood! Limited-time afternoon tea at a Chinese cafe

Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious and cute sweets. I love cafes so much that I've visited over 2,000 in total.

This time, I would like to introduce you to a favorite cafe that I have visited many times. It is a cafe where you can experience the feeling of "traveling abroad."

Feel like you're traveling abroad! CHINA CAFE, a Chinese tea cafe with a "Shanghai retro" atmosphere (Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka)

CHINA CAFE, located in Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, is a popular cafe serving Chinese tea and sweets that will celebrate its 10th anniversary in the summer of 2025.

It is located on the 3rd floor of the building called "i.CUBE".

Not only can you enjoy sweets, but you can also enjoy lunch ♡ It's very popular because you can easily enjoy porridge and dim sum.

The store's concept is "retro China."

It is run by two sisters, and the elder sister's husband is Chinese, so they are very knowledgeable about China and Taiwan. They also hold Chinese language lessons on an irregular basis.

Step inside the store and you'll feel like you're in China! Currently, the store is decorated with Chinese New Year lanterns.

The atmosphere is wonderful and exotic, with red lanterns imported directly from China, upside-down fortune telling, Chinese lion dances, and more.

The satin cushions are also very cute.

Once you've placed your order, you'll be given a stuffed panda with a number on it.

You probably won't find any number tags as cute as these anywhere else! They'll get you excited ♡

Pandas are also used on tableware, sweets and other items, which is irresistible for me as I love pandas ♡

By the way, it seems that there were many reservations on this day as well, which shows how popular it is ♡

Popular every year! Limited-time "Chinese New Year" menu

Chinese New Year (January 29th in 2025) is an important day celebrating the Lunar New Year (New Year according to the lunar calendar) in the Chinese-speaking world.

Here at CHINA CAFE, they hold a Chinese New Year event every year. This year, they will be offering three different menus from January 8th (Wed) to February 12th (Wed), 2025.

This time I received two types.

Chinese New Year Afternoon Tea

The contents of the Chinese New Year Afternoon Tea change every year, so I was really looking forward to seeing what this year's menu would be.

You can choose from two types of drinks: "White Peach Honey Milk Tea" is 2,400 yen, and "Peach Blossom White Peach Oolong Tea" is 2,200 yen.

This time I chose "White Peach Honey Milk Tea."

The upper shelf of the afternoon tea stand is lined with apricot macarons, apricot almond tarte, and peach no-meat.

Both the tarts and macarons are made with apricot jam, which is sweet and sour and delicious!

"Momo No Meechi" is a standard sweet at CHINA CAFE. It is a peach-shaped rice cake filled with sweet bean paste.

The bottom tier has a total of five kinds of dim sum and sweets. From the left, the dim sum are "Shark Fin Yellow Skin Dumplings," "Shrimp and Shrimp Shumai," and "Shrimp and Shrimp Shumai." They are all hot and fresh, so we recommend eating them first.

The sweets are "Apricot Almond Tofu" and "White Peach Douhua". The almond tofu is filled with plenty of apricot jam!

Douhua is a popular sweet in the Chinese region.

"Flower White Peach Douhua" is a jelly with flower petals and soft douhua underneath! Douhua is made from soy milk and has a smooth texture similar to Japanese silken tofu.

"White Peach Honey Milk Tea" is a flavor you can gulp down ♡ It contains no sugar, so if you want it sweeter, just mix in the whipped cream on top well before drinking.

When you open the lid of the steamer, three types of dim sum will appear, steaming away.

Starting from the left, the one with the sticker is the "Char Siu Meat Bun", a steamed bun with sweet roast pork wrapped in a sweet dough. The "Flower Dim Sum", which looks like a yellow flower, is a fun dim sum with a chewy texture, made with vegetables and cod paste wrapped in a yellow skin. The white one on the bottom right is the "Tofu and Squid Shumai", which is made with tofu, squid, and white fish paste and has a fluffy texture. All of them were delicious ♡

You can also enjoy two types of sweets: "Ice Skin Mooncake" and "Apricot Tofu."

"Mooncakes" are traditional sweets eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, and mooncakes that are not baked are called "snowskin mooncakes."

The bean paste and chestnuts are wrapped in a chewy dough and finished in the "Chinese New Year colors" using natural coloring. Gorgeous! You can also enjoy CHINA CAFE's popular menu item "Almond Tofu" ♡ It's full of fresh cream.
