Great for lunch with the kids! A hidden cafe with popular sweets (Kitakyushu City)

Hello! I'm Honosuke, and I love going to cafes with my kids.

This time, we will introduce a child-friendly cafe located in Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City.

Inaya Cafe, where adults and children alike can spend time with smiles (Tahara, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City)

Opened in 2018, Inaya Cafe is popular for its vegetable-packed lunches and sweets such as pancakes and scones.

It's about an 8-minute walk from JR Shimozone Station...it's like a hidden place that you'd never find unless you knew about it.

Please be careful if you are driving as the roads around the store are narrow! Parking spaces are limited so we recommend carpooling.

Look out for the quaint exterior of this renovated barn!

The restaurant has a high ceiling and an open atmosphere. The first floor has table seating and a raised seating area that is popular with families with children.

My son (1 year old) was glued to the toy telephone and didn't turn around even when I called his name (lol).

There is also a second floor seating area. It is used when the first floor is full or when necessary. Mattresses are available for rental for those with babies, so I was able to relax with my son (who was 5 months old at the time).

A healthy, veggie-packed lunch

There are five types of lunch dishes, and the rest of the menu is written on the blackboard.

All the dishes are made using home-grown vegetables. They all look so delicious, it's hard to decide what to eat!

First up is the most popular dish, "Lu Rou Fan" (1,100 yen).

A popular Taiwanese street food with a fragrant star anise spice. Pork belly is marinated in sweet sake overnight and then slowly simmered with eggplant and wood ear mushrooms... and you've got Inaiya Cafe-style Lu Rou Fan!

The sweet sauce soaks into the pork belly and eggplant, making it impossible to stop eating the rice ♡ It goes perfectly with the soft-boiled seasoned egg, and the texture of the mustard greens adds a nice accent ♪

Next is the seasonal menu item (usually available from around October to May) "Chili Con Carne Rice" (1,100 yen).

It is a spicy tomato sauce stew made with minced meat, kidney beans, and plenty of vegetables. It goes well with rice, and is also delicious on tortilla chips!

By the way, when the home-grown basil is in full bloom (usually from late May to October), the dish is replaced with "Gapao Rice" (1,100 yen).

Finally, my friend ordered the "Now This! Lunch" (1,100 yen), which changes periodically. It is recommended to make a reservation as the number of dishes is limited each day.

This time, the main dish was tandoori-style chicken stew. It tasted like soup curry and was apparently very delicious.

There are also children's menus, such as "Rice and Soup Set" (220 yen) and "Children's Hayashi Rice" (385 yen). Only commercially available baby food is allowed to be brought in!

Don't miss the dessert after the meal!

Next, let us introduce the dessert menu!

First, my top recommendation! The popular "English Scone (Plain)" (2 pieces for 605 yen) is perfect for both eat-in and take-out.

It has a slight sweetness and a fluffy, crunchy texture. When I ate it with plenty of whipped cream and jam, happiness spread throughout my mouth.

This is "Chai (HOT)" (495 yen), which goes perfectly with scones.

It has a mild flavor with plenty of fluffy foam milk. The aroma of cinnamon is soothing.

Finally, "Simple Pancake" (880 yen).

The pancakes are fluffy and carefully baked after the batter is made to order. They are just the right amount of sweet and have a strong egg flavor, making them very delicious.

It takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the food to be served, so if you want to eat it after lunch, we recommend ordering early!

Not only are there picture books and toys available, but there is also a diaper changing station, so even those with children can enjoy lunch without worry.

It seems that they also hold events and markets such as eurhythmics and baby massage, so I would like to participate in those next time (you can check event information on Instagram).
