[Popular Izakaya in the Tenjin area] Everything is delicious! A hidden robatayaki restaurant (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)

Hello. I'm Masaki, a writer who loves hidden gourmet spots.

This time, we will introduce a hidden robatayaki restaurant that opened on September 9, 2024.

A popular restaurant with 80% repeat customers! Robata Shinkawabashi, a hidden izakaya that opened in Ura Tenjin (Watanabedori, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)

Robata Shinkawabashi is a hidden izakaya located in Watanabedori 5-chome, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka city, in the area known as "Ura Tenjin."

We are located on the second floor of a building at the end of a narrow alley next to Komeda Coffee Fukuoka Watanabedori 5-chome store along Watanabedori Street.

The "Robata" lantern is the landmark.

The restaurant only has eight counter seats. It was originally an apartment space that was renovated to create a lovely izakaya atmosphere.

The person who will be serving you these carefully prepared robatayaki dishes is Uchida-san, who honed his skills at Robata Raibashi (5-chome Watanabedori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City), a popular restaurant in the same Raibashi Group.

It seems that many customers come to see the friendly and kind Uchida. Apparently 80% of the customers are regulars.

Sawdust charcoal is used for cooking, and the far infrared rays apparently make the food taste better.

Also noteworthy is their attention to detail in the ingredients they use.

Introducing recommended dishes and sake!

This time, we had the dishes and sake recommended by the chef. Let me introduce them to you. *Charge and appetizer fee: 400 yen

Grilled on a charcoal grill: "Scallops with shells", "Grilled Turban Shells", "Chicken platter", and "Vegetables of the day"

First, start with the grilled dishes that the chef will grill right in front of you on a charcoal grill.

In the foreground of the photo is "Grilled Turban Shell" (500 yen). The delicious aroma wafts through the air, and just watching the cooking process makes it a great "sake snack."

The "Chicken Serving" (600 yen per person) is a set of thighs, cartilage, meatballs, gizzards, thighs, and chicken neck. The chicken is grilled on a charcoal grill and served with a special sauce and egg yolk.

The crisp texture of the chicken, the sweet and rich taste of the yolk, and the sourness of the sauce are all excellent. It's sure to go really well with alcohol!

"Today's Vegetables" (from 250 yen) is a selection of about 15 kinds of seasonal vegetables from a particular region. This time, I ordered the "Vegetable Platter" (700 yen per person, 1,200 yen for two people). On this day, the vegetables were lotus root from Saga, mountain yam from Aomori, Manganji chili pepper from Kyoto, and thick shiitake mushrooms from Oita. All were delicious.

There are a variety of condiments available, including mixed salt, yuzu pepper, homemade miso, black shichimi, ponzu sauce, and soy sauce, so please enjoy with whatever you like.

My personal favorite was the "Scallops with Shells" (1,200 yen).

The scallop broth was just too good. The amount of soy sauce was just right, and it went perfectly with sake!

In addition, you can also make risotto with these "shelled scallops" at no extra charge. The savory and sweet taste of the cheese is added, making it the best.

It went well with Japanese sake.

"Grilled marinated mackerel with bukkake"

Next, I had the "Grilled Marinated Mackerel Bukkake" (1,500 yen).

Marinated mackerel is delicious on its own, but grilling it over charcoal enhances the flavor and aroma, making it a taste that will make you crave alcohol!

It went perfectly with the myoga ginger that was served with it.

"Superb Salted Mackerel"

I was surprised at how good the value for money was with the "Superb Salted Mackerel" (700 yen).

It was my first time to eat such a large piece of salted mackerel. The owner told me that it was fatty, but it was full of flavor and didn't feel heavy at all. I think many people will be coming back for this!

"White milt with ponzu sauce" "Seasoned oysters"

At the same time as the "Superb Salted Mackerel," I also had the "Whitemilt Ponzu" (1,200 yen) and "Sugakki" (800 yen).

The "Shirako Ponzu" is not only very fresh, but also has a rich flavor and sweetness.

The "Sugakki" uses "one-year-old oysters" from Hyogo Prefecture. These are brand oysters that grow to a good size in the short period of one year, and are delicious with plenty of umami and meat.

"miso soup"

Whether you want to have it with any of the dishes introduced so far, as a final dish, or as a drink accompaniment, the one dish we highly recommend is the "Miso Soup" (400 yen).

They use carefully selected tofu and the stock is also carefully selected. It was very delicious and went well with sake.

Dessert: "Taiyaki Vanilla"

Finally, dessert.

The "Taiyaki Vanilla" (400 yen) is a plate of grilled taiyaki and two vanilla ice creams.

The taiyaki had a charcoal-grilled aroma and the red bean paste was delicious. The vanilla ice cream was surprisingly rich. I'm glad I ordered it as a final dish!

A carefully selected selection of sake!

To start with, we tried some chilled Akafukusuke (1,100 yen) from Yamagata Prefecture.

It has a soft taste and a sweet flavor when you put it in your mouth. Sake from Tohoku is really delicious!

The second drink was also cold, and I chose "Saku" (1,100 yen) from Mie Prefecture.

It is characterized by its clean taste and no sharp edges. It was very easy to drink.

Thank you for the meal.

It's a relatively new restaurant, but it's already popular, so we recommend making a reservation by phone. There are still plenty of dishes and drinks available. Please give it a try. (Text by Masaki)
