You're missing out if you don't know about this! Reasonably priced, too! A hidden gem where you can enjoy authentic Korean flavors (Kurume City)
Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.
This time, we will introduce a Korean restaurant in Kurume City.
I feel like I'm missing out by not knowing about this shop until now, but it's a hidden gem. I hope you'll all keep it as a "secret."
Homemade kimchi is also available! Enjoy authentic Korean cuisine at "Omoni Kimchi" (Kurume City)
"Omoni Kimchi" is located in Araki, Araki-cho, Kurume City, along National Route 209. Look for the eye-catching exterior.

I didn't think it was a restaurant because there were signs on the tents outside saying things like "Homemade hand-made kimchi" and "Korean grocery store," but inside the store you can casually enjoy authentic Korean food like this.

Of course, authentic seasonings and ingredients are also sold.

I can't read what it says, but it's probably instant ramen.

They also have homemade "Squid Kimchi" (small 340 yen, large 660 yen) and "Chanja" (small 480 yen, large 940 yen).

Image: Detour
This is also handmade. "Kimchi" is not only available in authentic "spicy" but also in "mild spiciness" (510 yen for 300g, 850 yen for 500g each).
Apparently, this is how stores in the countryside of Korea display their products. It has a real feel to it, which is nice.

Hot until the last bite! Try "Soondubu Jjigae" and "Stone-grilled Bibimbap"
Now let's take a look at the menu.

There is a wide variety of dishes, and they are all reasonably priced, such as "Potato Ramen Set Meal (with kimchi and a small bowl of rice)" (800 yen), "Bibimbap (with soup)" (900 yen), and "Chijimi Set Meal (with kimchi, a small bowl of rice, and soup)" (1,100 yen). Even the most expensive dish, "Soondubu Jjigae Cheese Bibimbap Set Meal (with kimchi, a small bowl of bibimbap, and seaweed)" (1,700 yen), is nice and affordable, at around 1,000 yen.
This time, I ordered the "Soondubu Jjigae Set Meal (with kimchi, rice, and seaweed)" (1,150 yen) and the "Stone-grilled Bibimbap (with soup)" (970 yen).
First, let's start with the "Soondubu Jjigae Set Meal."
The entrance is accompanied by a bubbling sound. This sense of realism...I can't get enough of it.

It was boiling so much that I could feel the soup splashing everywhere. The moment I put the ladle into the pot was quite nerve wracking.

And what surprised me a bit was this spoon.
The food is served with a cover like this, so you can tell they are very careful about hygiene. This kind of restaurant is trustworthy.

Well, let's eat.

So ouch!!!
I'm sorry, it's painful.
But once you get used to Korean food, you'll find yourself eating it quickly.
I heard it was the real thing so I thought it would be super spicy, but it was only moderately spicy. It was very filling and very satisfying.

Only available during weekday lunch hours (11:00-14:30), all "home cooking" menu items come with a salad, which is also great.
It has a refined flavor with a hint of sesame, making it the perfect palate cleanser.

Now, let's go for the hot stone bibimbap.

Mix thoroughly from the bottom...

An appetizing aroma hits your nose.

After mixing it well, leave it for a minute or so and it will get burnt like this.

It was good as it was, but it was also good with the Korean seaweed that came with the "Soondubu Jjigae Set Meal". The slight saltiness was a perfect match.

It stays hot until the last bite.
The "stone-grilled bibimbap" here was just the right amount of spicy and easy to eat. If you like spicy food, you can make it "spicy" for an additional 50 yen.
If you don't know about the Korean food at "Omoni Kimchi", you are missing out. Please give it a try. (Text by Yorimitsu)
