[Kurume] A seafood izakaya where you can enjoy the "ultimate bluefin tuna cuisine" that's so delicious you'll want to brag about it!

Hello. I am Yorimichi, the owner of the blog "Yorimichi's Fukuoka Introduction," which introduces delicious restaurants in Fukuoka.

There are many restaurants in Fukuoka where you can eat delicious fish dishes, but this time we will introduce a seafood izakaya where you can enjoy the ultimate bluefin tuna dishes, perfect for an adult date or a small dinner party.

If you know it, you can brag! Authentic seafood izakaya "Kaisen Matsuo" (Kurume City)

So I came to Higashimachi, Kurume City. After walking for about 5 minutes along the tracks from Nishitetsu Kurume Station, I arrived at my destination, Kaisen Matsuuo.

Other than a neon sign depicting a pine tree and a fish, there is no flashy signboard; the only landmarks are a blue noren curtain and a flag with the word "sushi" written on it.

The restaurant has a casual atmosphere. There are counter seats and table seats.

And at the very back there was a Japanese-style seating area. Apparently, families with children sometimes come here too.

Let's take a look at the menu.

It seems that this restaurant focuses on bluefin tuna dishes. They have bluefin tuna "cheek meat sashimi" (1,250 yen), "kama toro sashimi" (1,800 yen), and "spicy grilled eyeball" (800 yen).

There is a wide variety of seafood dishes on offer, including octopus, sesame mackerel, sea bream, and salmon roe.

In addition to standard menu items such as "Authentic! Wagyu Beef Soondubu Jjigae" (1,350 yen) and "Seasonal Fish and Wild Vegetable Kamameshi" (1,200 yen),

Apparently you can also enjoy live shellfish delivered directly from Karatsu.

Enjoy rare cuts of bluefin tuna!

So, I'll order bluefin tuna as the main course and whatever else catches my eye.

The first thing that was quietly placed on the table was "Blowfish Skin Jellies."

When this is served as the "appetizer" (200 yen), expectations rise immediately.

The elegant aroma of the broth and the crunchy puffer fish skin are simply amazing.

If you can drink alcohol, I think sake would definitely be a good choice.

This is a rare cut of bluefin tuna called "cheek meat sashimi" (1,250 yen).

Look at it, it looks like a jewel.

Apparently the tuna loin, or the head part, is thrown away.

Sometimes there are restaurants that ask you to pick the food out with a spoon and eat it, but I never imagined there would be a place that serves it so carefully.

The moment I put it in my mouth after dipping it in soy sauce, the high-quality fat melted in my mouth. It was as delicious as I had hoped, and I almost cried.

This is definitely more delicious than otoro, so I really wonder why it's not available in more restaurants.

And here is the "Matsunokiwami Sashimi Assortment" (2,500 yen per person / for 2 or more people *Reservation required by the day before). The gorgeous presentation is irresistible.

Each item is carefully prepared, so it's not just fresh.

Perhaps because the fish is quite fatty, it doesn't become spicy even when smeared with a generous amount of wasabi.

I definitely recommend you try this. I'm sure you'll be very impressed.

The octopus has a firm texture and the more you chew it, the more flavor it releases.

This dish is packed with the luxuries of the sea and will lift your spirits.

Come to think of it, I've never tried "The Tuna Steak" (1,350 yen).

Wow, so strange.

Although it looks like a steak, it is actually sashimi, and the lightness of the sauce makes it a great dish to go with alcohol. It's not too strong, so it's a great snack for adults.

Next up was the "Bluefin Tuna Head Rare Cutlet with Tartar Sauce" (1,250 yen). Once again, I was confused by the part of the tuna that was served, but I had no idea what it would taste like in a cutlet.

Topped with plenty of homemade tartar sauce.

Wow, this is superb. You can see it just by looking at it, the heat is just right. It's rare inside, yet crispy on the outside.

It has no peculiar taste and spreads elegantly in your mouth.

Now, let's finish off with "Four pieces of Kamatoro Nigiri" (1,800 yen).

It takes a lot of confidence to make sushi look impressive without any decorations at all.

This is the ultimate tuna sushi.

From today, even if you see a sushi connoisseur boasting about his otoro nigiri, you can get the upper hand by asking, "Have you ever tried kamatoro nigiri?"

The rice is made with black vinegar, the fatty tuna is topped with a decorative piece of fish lightly coated with soy sauce, and it's a true work of art.

If I were to start talking about how much technology has been packed into this, it would take all day.

"Kaisen Matsugyo" is sure to satisfy you with its quality that exceeds your expectations.

The staff were very kind and quietly supportive, and were attentive to our needs while maintaining an appropriate distance.
