A must-try popular restaurant in Kumamoto Station! "Rich yet light" addictive ramen
Hello. I'm Momo and I love to eat.
This time, we will introduce some popular ramen restaurants in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
A popular restaurant only found in Kumamoto! "Tengaiten Kumamoto Station Branch" (Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture) - Ramen with a light flavor
Tengaiten Kumamoto Station is located inside Higo Yokamon Market, a food and drink mall on the first floor of JR Kumamoto Station.
Tengaiten, founded in 1989, is a famous restaurant in the center of Kumamoto that has been loved as a "final ramen to finish off a meal." The main store is currently in the process of relocating, and only the Kumamoto Station store is available at present. This is ramen that can only be tasted in Kumamoto.
The noodles are homemade. The soup is a blend of three types: pork bones, chicken bones, and both cooked together. It's rich but not heavy like pork bones, and has a refreshing taste that has made it popular.
The shop has a small atmosphere with only 13 seats at the counter. The open kitchen gives a lively feeling and you can enjoy watching the process of making the food.
The one and only ramen with "garlic powder"
There are three types of ramen in total: the classic "Ramen" (930 yen), the "Spicy Ramen" (950 yen) which you can choose the spiciness of, and the "Char Siu Ramen" (1,300 yen).
For an additional 350 yen, you can add the "Rice and Half Gyoza Set," and there are also side dishes such as "Fried Gyoza" (400 yen) and "Roasted Pork Rice" (400 yen), as well as an alcoholic beverage menu including "Draft Beer (Yebisu)" (580 yen) and "Highball" (450 yen).
There are condiments on the table so you can change the flavor to your liking.
Let me introduce the ramen I ordered this time.
ramen
The most popular item is the "Ramen" (930 yen). It has a simple appearance with roasted pork, wood ear mushrooms, and garlic powder on top. In the photo, it is topped with a "soft-boiled seasoned egg" (110 yen).
The light soup is mixed well with the homemade thin noodles. It's not too heavy, so you can eat as much as you want! "Extra noodles" (+150 yen) are also available.
There are two large slices of pork. They are cooked in a steam convection oven, which uses steam and hot air, and are marinated in soy sauce. You can really taste the meat's flavor, and it's moist and juicy!
The "soft-boiled seasoned egg" is also delicious, cooked just the right way.
It is topped with a generous amount of garlic powder, but the taste is lighter than you'd expect.
If you want more punch, we recommend adding some of the "garlic pickled in soy sauce" that is available on the table.
Char siu ramen
The impressive "Char Siu Ramen" (1,300 yen) comes with six slices of pork (the photo below shows it topped with a "half-boiled seasoned egg").
It's very filling and satisfying.
This ramen shop is recommended for lunch or as a finishing touch to your day. If you are visiting Kumamoto, be sure to stop by! (Text by momo)
