A popular shop (Tagawa City) with a wide variety of fruit daifuku and cakes that will let you "enjoy the taste of the season" - perfect as a gift
Hello. I'm Yuri and I love delicious sweets.
This time, we will introduce a sweets shop in Tagawa City where you can enjoy both Japanese and Western sweets.
Both Japanese and Western sweets are available! Mikonomori Sweets Factory (Tagawa City), loved by locals
Miko's Forest Sweets Factory is located a 12-minute walk or 5-minute drive from Tagawa Gotoji Station on the JR and Heisei Chikuho Railway.
This popular sweets shop manufactures and sells "A La Maison," a Western confectionery brand that specializes in shortcakes made using wheat from Kyushu, and "Mochifuku," a Japanese confectionery brand that specializes in fruit daifuku.
The owner's name is Mikoda, so the shop was named "Mikonomori Sweets Factory."
Upon entering the store, you are greeted by a large showcase. There is a wide variety of cakes, all of which look delicious. On the day I visited, there were cakes lined up that used plenty of seasonal ingredients, such as "Higo Chestnut Mont Blanc" (450 yen), "Pione and Shine Muscat Shortcake" (520 yen), and "Luxurious Autumn Japanese Parfait" (480 yen).
There are also cakes that would make great souvenirs, such as the "Set of 5 Petit Fours" (1,404 yen).
There is also a popular item called "Asakura Egg Pudding" (259 yen each), which uses eggs from Asakura city.
In the "Mochifuku" corner, there were about 10 different kinds of fruit daifuku lined up, with the contents changing with the season.
By the way, it was originally operated as "Ishimura Tagawa Store," and sweets from "Ishimura Manseido," including "Meika Tsurunoko," are also sold here.
This restaurant offers take-out as well as eat-in options.
Enjoy gorgeous fruit daifuku and exquisite cakes in an eat-in setting
On this day, I ordered fruit daifuku and cake for eat-in.
These are "Shiromochifuku (white bean paste)" (389 yen) and "Kuromochifuku (smooth bean paste)" (389 yen). We cut them in half so that it was easier to see what was inside.
Colorful and gorgeous! Both are filled with orange, strawberry, and kiwi fruit. I like the large cut pieces.
The tartness of the fruit creates a wonderful contrast with the sweet bean paste, and the soft, chewy texture of the daifuku is irresistible.
Be sure to try the fresh tasting white bean paste and the simple sweetness of smooth bean paste.
Next is the most popular item, the Strawberry Shortcake (480 yen).
It's moist, fluffy and delicious. The sweetness is not too strong overall, so you won't feel too guilty about eating it.
"Strawberry Chocolate Shortcake" (480 yen) is also recommended.
It contains bananas and has an overall fruity scent.
It's sure to satisfy everyone, from adults to children.
By the way, the strawberries are purchased from "Kamidera Strawberry Farm" in Asakura City, which is operated by Kyushu Electric Power, from mid-October. This is the earliest harvest in Fukuoka.
For my drink, I ordered a "Caramel Latte" (420 yen).
The bitterness of the espresso mixed with the slightly sweet milk made the sweetness of the caramel really stand out.
Check out the baked goods too
They also sell items such as the "A la Maison Assortment," an assortment of baked goods packed with the charm of Tagawa, making it the perfect gift.
The love for Chikuho is apparent even in the product names, such as "Madeleines of Mt. Kahuran," "Romancegaoka," and "Gate of Youth," which are inspired by the mountains of Chikuho.
"Kahurandake Madeleines" (195 yen each) come in four flavors: almond (butter), black tea, gyokuro, and chocolate.
"Romancegaoka" (210 yen each) came in two varieties: chocolate chunk cookies and raisin chunk cookies.
They are all delicious and I think everyone will love the taste.
Miko no Mori Sweets Factory is a very satisfying shop where you can enjoy both Japanese and Western sweets. Please come and visit us. (Text by Yuri-chan)
