Thick and tender pork steak with spicy curry! A popular restaurant that can be enjoyed by one person or with the family

Hello. This is Chihi Log, a casual website that provides information about Fukuoka, with a focus on gourmet food.

This time, we will introduce a pork steak and Sri Lankan curry restaurant in Nakama City, about 30 minutes by car from Kokura, Kitakyushu!

A popular pork steak restaurant in Fukuoka! "Toichi Nakama Branch" (Nakama City) is a great place to enjoy a meal by yourself or with your family!

"Toichi" is a popular restaurant known for its pork steak.

There are three stores in Fukuoka prefecture, but this time we will introduce "Juichi Nakama store" which is easily accessible from the Kitakyushu area. The other two stores are "Ropponmatsu store" and "Hakozaki store" in Fukuoka city.

The Nakama store is about an 8-minute walk from Toritani Station on the Chikuho Electric Railroad. There is a spacious free parking lot, so it is convenient to go by car.

As you enter the store, the left side is mainly counter seating, and the right side is mainly table seating.

I like that it's easy to stay here whether you're alone or with a group.

When Juichi first opened, it was designed with the image of a ramen shop where customers could quickly enjoy themselves and then go home. However, the Nakama branch, which opened in May 2024, has six-seater tables and a reasonable kids' menu (limited to children under elementary school age) so that "three generations of a family can enjoy it together."

There are also baby chairs available, so even those with small children can feel at ease.

Enjoy the signature dishes "Pork Steak Set Meal" and "Pork Steak Curry"!

Let me introduce the menu items I ordered this time.

Pork steak set meal

The specialty of "Juichi" is the "Pork Steak Set Meal" (half 880 yen, regular 1,100 yen, large 1,350 yen, pork steak alone 700 yen), which arrives with a sizzling sound.

The set includes pork steak (half 90g, regular 180g, large 270g), rice (with Spicy Fish Eggs), miso soup, and potato salad. This time, I changed the miso soup to "soup curry" for an additional 200 yen. Other toppings available are "salad" (100 yen), "green onion salt" (50 yen), "cheese" (200 yen), and "garlic chips" (100 yen).

It uses domestic pork from Kyushu, and it's great to be able to enjoy such a large portion at this price!

The "pork steak replacement meat" was also reasonably priced, starting at 300 yen for a half serving.

The pork is served rare (you can also request it "well-cooked"), and you can cook it to your liking on the hot plate.

It was thick yet very soft; I was extremely impressed!

Another nice thing about this dish is that the rice is topped with Spicy Fish Eggs.

By the way, you can eat as much plums and takana as you want at the self-service corner.

You can enjoy it in a variety of ways, such as by changing the flavor with grated wasabi and spicy miso in the jars on the table.

It was also delicious with the "soup curry" that was replaced with miso soup. If you want to enjoy a little curry with pork steak as the main dish, I recommend changing to the "soup curry"!

Pork steak curry

This is the "Pork Steak Curry" (half 930 yen, regular 1,200 yen). This menu allows you to enjoy the two specialties of the restaurant: pork steak and spice curry.

The spices used are imported from Sri Lanka, and add a nice accent to the mild, mellow flavor! It's irresistibly delicious.

You can choose the spiciness of your curry from 0 to 3 levels, and you can also adjust it to your liking with the spices on the table.

The regular size comes with 180g of pork steak and is extremely satisfying!

The fragrant turmeric rice was topped with paprika and other ingredients.

"Kids Menu" available only for elementary school students and younger

The "kids menu", available exclusively to elementary school children and younger, starts at just 380 yen!

This "Children's Curry" (380 yen) comes with a set of curry, salad, and dessert.

The "Kids Pork Steak Set Meal" (500 yen) is a menu that responds to the desires of kids who want to "eat the same thing as adults!"

Comes with a half-sized (90g) pork steak, rice, salad and dessert.
