[Dazaifu Cafe] A specialty store for the exquisite custard sweet "Catalana"! A report on the new limited edition product

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love stylish cafes and sweets.

This time, we will introduce you to a wonderful sweets shop in Dazaifu City.

A must-visit when strolling around Dazaifu! Kyushu's first "Catalana" specialty store "AMARILLO" (Dazaifu City)

"AMARILLO" is located a 2-minute walk from Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station.

Opened in October 2022, this restaurant is well-known for its authentic "Catalana" cuisine.

"Catalana" is a custard dessert that originated in Spain and is similar to an ice cream cake. It is similar to creme brulée, but this shop offers a more original "Catalana" by combining it with various sauces rather than searing the surface. Another feature is that it uses a lot of eggs from Dazaifu.

The interior of the restaurant has a stylish atmosphere with exposed concrete. It is a renovated building from the Edo period.

Near the cash register, you can buy takeaway "Tarte Catalana" (six flavors: plain, matcha, black tea, chocolate, raspberry, and nuts, 580 yen each) and "Bottled Catalana" (500 yen each). They would make great souvenirs.

They also focus on black tea from Kyushu, selling teas such as "Ureshino Black Tea" (780 yen), "Imari Black Tea" (780 yen), and "Minami Satsuma Black Tea" (980 yen). They are great for gifts and everyday use.

It's a work of art ♡ Limited time "Sweet potato millefeuille Catalana"

This time, I ate in. The open kitchen means you can watch the cooking process, which increases your appetite and makes you excited.

I ordered the limited time, eat-in only "Sweet Potato Millefeuille Catalana" (drink included, 1,380 yen). It will be on sale until mid-December.

A mille-feuille made with crispy pie, sweet potato (Beni Haruka) paste, Catalana cheese, and caramel sauce, topped with Beni Haruka chips and fresh cream.

With a look that combines cuteness and a sophisticated feel, it's almost a shame to eat it!

The cold Catalana has a rich, pudding-like taste, with a strong egg flavor. The natural sweetness of the Beni Haruka chocolates and the slightly bitter caramel sauce go perfectly together.

It's also nice to be able to enjoy a variety of textures.

The drink (tea) that comes with the set is the manager's recommendation, "Minami Satsuma." Other varieties include Ureshino and Imari, and the menu includes a list of pairings between sweets and tea.

"Minami Satsuma" has a mild flavor and was the perfect match for the "Sweet Potato Millefeuille Catalana."

Apparently, "Strawberry Mille-feuille Catalana" will be available from December!

AMARILLO is a place to keep an eye on all year round, with the seasonal Mille-feuille Catalana available on a regular basis.

This is a recommended shop for tourists in Dazaifu. Please be sure to stop by. (Text by Yuri-chan)
