This time, we will introduce a popular izakaya in Kokura that reopened in October 2024.

A popular izakaya where you can have a quick drink and enjoy it at a reasonable price: "Taishu Yakitori Sakaba Kokura Torikura" (Uomachi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)

"Ogura Torikura", a popular yakitori bar, is located in Uomachi Gintengai, about a 5-minute walk from JR Kokura Station.

There are counter seats and table seats in this spacious space that can accommodate up to 50 people.

It's so popular that almost all the seats are filled as soon as it opens at 4pm!

The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is homey and fun. It's perfect for a pre-party.

A rich menu centered around chicken dishes! For a limited time only, "Chicken Skin Skewers" are 55 yen each

The restaurant serves mainly chicken dishes, including its specialty charcoal-grilled chicken and yakitori. All the dishes are reasonably priced. Course meals start at 2,000 yen, and there is a wide selection of drinks, including an all-you-can-drink option.

This is the "Chicken Skin Skewer" (usually 110 yen). Until Saturday, November 30th, there is a renewal campaign where you can enjoy it for 55 yen per skewer.

It has a sweet and spicy flavor, is fragrant on the outside and chewy on the inside, making it delicious!

It was the perfect taste to go with alcohol.

Highballs and draft beers

"Highball" (usually 109 yen) and "Draft beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori)" (209 yen).

Here too, until Saturday, November 30th, you can enjoy highballs for 50 yen and draft beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori) for 90 yen.

Beef offal hotpot

The Fukuoka specialty "Beef Motsunabe" (1,079 yen per person) and "Mizutaki" (1,188 yen per person) are also reasonably priced. This time, I ordered the "Beef Motsunabe". *The photo shows a portion for two people.

It is topped with large cuts of beef offal, burdock, chives, tofu and more, making it a very filling meal!

The soup is soy sauce-based and packed with the flavor of beef tripe and vegetables.

The fluffy beef tripe is soaked in the delicious soup, filling your mouth with flavor.

You can also add "Udon" (429 yen) or "Rice Porridge Set" (429 yen) to finish off your meal.

This time I chose rice porridge. Its mild flavor was comforting.

Charcoal grilled chicken

Torikura's specialty, charcoal-grilled parent chicken (880 yen), is characterized by its rich flavor and strong umami, and you can enjoy the perfect chewiness that only a parent chicken can have.

Deep fried chicken thighs

"Fried Chicken Thighs" (605 yen). Crispy and fragrantly fried, it was delicious and went well with alcohol.

The "Grilled Beef Tripe on a Hot Plate" (858 yen) arrives with a sizzling sound.

Packed with plenty of vegetables and fluffy beef offal, this is a dish perfect for sharing.

The "Homemade rolled omelet" (682 yen) was full of dashi, had a delicious flavor, and was soft and fluffy and delicious.

"Chicken Skin with Ponzu Sauce" (462 yen) is perfect for when you want to enjoy something crisp and delicious. The texture and refreshing flavor are irresistible.

Creamy Caesar Salad with Chicken Breast and Avocado

There were three types of salads on the menu, including "Torikura Special Potato Salad" (550 yen) and "Korean-Style Choreogi Salad" (528 yen).

This is the "Chicken Breast and Avocado Creamy Caesar Salad" (715 yen). It's packed with tender chicken and avocado! It's so filling that it would be perfect for sharing with about three people.
