You can also just come for lunch! A must-see for dog lovers: a cafe, dog run, and campground complex
Hello, I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves cafes.
I've been to many cafes, but since I recently got a dog, I've become interested in "cafes where you can bring your dog along." I've come across a wonderful cafe this time, so let me introduce it to you ♡
Dog Camper Rest Aoyagi (Koga City), a complex that combines a dog cafe, dog run, and campsite
Dog Camper Rest Aoyagi opened in Aoyagicho, Koga City in 2021.
It is located about 10 minutes by car from Koga IC on the Kyushu Expressway. There is a parking lot with space for 20 cars.
It is a complex that combines a dog cafe, dog run, and campsite, and is run by the owners, their husband and wife, their wife's older sister, and the owner's son.
Our main purpose this time was to find a cafe restaurant where we could dine with our dogs. It was located right in front of the gate.
Although I had a dog at home when I was little, this was my first time to keep one myself, so it was my first time visiting a dog cafe, and I was nervous as I opened the door.
We don't have any restrictions on the size of your dog, but please make sure to keep them on a lead when entering the store.
店内は広く、最大28人で利用可能。
The table has a part for hanging a lead, so you can dine with your dog in safety.
A rare sight in Japan? A large mascot dog welcomes you
Dog Camper Rest Aoyagi has three mascot dogs. I only met two of them that day, but I was surprised by their size. Dan, who will be one year old in November 2024, weighs a whopping 50kg!
The Newfoundland is a breed of dog native to the island of Newfoundland in Canada. It was originally used as a working dog and sea rescue dog, but nowadays it is often kept as a pet.
He has a very gentle personality and looks at our little dog with a gentle gaze. He's a fluffy, soothing presence.
All-you-can-eat side dishes, salads, and soups included! A diverse set menu with carefully prepared dishes
At this dog cafe, you can enjoy delicious food made by the owner's wife. There are about 20 different set menu items available, and the prices are very reasonable.
First, let's start with the menu for humans.
Beef steak set
The first thing that caught my eye on the menu was the "Beef Steak Set" (1,380 yen). It's great value for money.
お肉が柔らかく、とってもジューシーで箸が止まらないおいしさ! ソースはお肉の旨みを引き立ててくれる味でした。ステーキの大きさが2倍になる『W牛ステーキセット』(2,200円)もありましたよ。
All grand menu items come with all-you-can-eat salads, side dishes, and soups, making it a great deal!
There are also many types of salad dressings to choose from.
The side dishes change daily, and on this day there were wieners, konnyaku kinpira, kiriboshi daikon, and ham cutlets. The soup on this day was miso soup. It had a nostalgic, home-style taste and was very delicious.
Hand-kneaded hamburger set
We also ordered the popular "Hand-kneaded Hamburger Steak Set" (1,280 yen).
The hand-kneaded hamburger steaks are very filling and delicious! The sauce is also rich and flavorful, and I finished it in no time.
The attractive feature is the choice of size! Three types of "dog menu"
Next, we will introduce a menu for dogs that is low in salt and oil.
There are three types available: "Chicken One Steak and Salad" (580-780 yen), "One Pasta" (580-780 yen), and "Doggie Steak" (780-1,280 yen), and each is available in S, M, and L sizes.
They also offer whole cakes for your dog (from 2,500 yen / reservation required).
Chicken one burger and salad
Pasta and steak were also appealing, but this time I went for the "Chicken One Steak and Salad."
Since he is a small dog, I ordered the small size. He ate the chicken hamburger steak and boiled vegetables on a plate and seemed to enjoy it very much.
There are also great facilities like a dog run and a campsite!
There is also a dog run on the premises. The fee is 600 yen per dog. There are several conditions, such as dogs having received the designated vaccinations (certificates will be checked the first time you use the facility) and puppies under 6 months of age are not allowed, so please check before using the facility.
Space for small dogs,
There is a separate area for large dogs, so you can use it with peace of mind. It's nice to be able to let your dog play in an open space!
There are also seven campsites where you can enjoy day camping (check-in at 9am/check-out at 3pm) or night camping (check-in at 12pm/check-out at 12pm the following day).
Another nice thing about the site is that there are various ways to use it, such as sites where you can drive your car, sites where you can stay at a lodge, sites where you can use a camper van, etc. Each site is surrounded by a fence, so you can camp with your dog in peace.
There is also "Yakuoji no Yu Kairakuso" just a 5-minute drive away (no dogs allowed)
There is also a BBQ available (12:00-19:00, 11 dishes starting from 3,000 yen) where you can come empty-handed.
I was happy to learn about a space where I could spend time like this with my beloved dog.
Dogs are welcome at Dog Camper Rest Aoyagi, and dog lovers are also welcome to use the café. Why not stop by? (Text by ayu.latte)
