[Yakuin Izakaya] Chicken fillet and skin are musts! A popular yakitori restaurant with many menu items in the 100 yen range (Fukuoka City)
Hello! I'm Piroto, a gourmet tour guide in Fukuoka city.
This time, we will introduce a restaurant in Yakuin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, where you can enjoy delicious yakitori at a reasonable price.
More than 10 types of skewers in the 100 yen range! Great taste and price at "Samba" (Yakuin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City)
The popular "Samba Skin Yakitori" restaurant is crowded with many customers every day. I made a reservation in advance (by phone) before going there.
The shop is located about a 3-minute walk from Yakuin Odori Station on the Nanakuma Subway Line. After leaving the station, head west along the main street and you will find it in a quiet area just past the intersection of Yakuin Odori Nishi (next to the Honda Cars Fukuoka Yakuin Store).
It opens from 5pm, and when it gets dark the word "Samba" stands out as a landmark!
The interior of the restaurant has a warm, homey feel with wooden furniture. There are about 20 tables in total, all of which can be moved around to accommodate both 2 people and large groups.
There are also eight seats at the counter. The space between the seats is a little narrow, but you can get up close and enjoy the cooking.
The menu mainly consists of skewers such as yakitori and grilled vegetables. Not only is there a wide variety, but the prices are very reasonable, with yakitori ranging from 143 yen to 165 yen and grilled vegetables starting from 110 yen...!
The prices are reasonable, so you can order a variety of different items without hesitation. Let me introduce the skewers I actually tried.
Delicious and reasonably priced! Classic skewers grilled to perfection
First, there is the "skin" (143 yen per stick), a standard and popular item in Fukuoka yakitori. It is crispy and fragrant, with a chewy and springy texture inside. The sweet sauce packs in the flavor, so you can eat as many as you like as a snack!
Next is the "Bara" (143 yen per piece). It is soft and juicy, and you can really taste the sweetness of the pork fat and the umami of the meat. The size is just right and it's very easy to eat.
These are the "Gizzard shad" (left photo, 165 yen each) and "Hearts" (right photo, 143 yen each). Both are grilled to perfection, and the gizzard shad in particular is chewy and addictive...!
A must-try is the "Chicken Fillet Shigiyaki" (418 yen for 2 pieces per plate). The plump and juicy chicken fillet is slightly rare inside, and you'll be amazed at its exquisite texture after just one bite. The refreshing spiciness and flavor of the special wasabi soy sauce adds to the dish, making it a delicious dish that goes well with alcohol!
If you're not sure what to order, try the "Skin" and "Grilled Chicken Fillet" first!
There is also a wide variety of "Yaki Yasai" (grilled vegetables) that are vegetables wrapped in pork belly.
Another feature is the large selection of "Yasaiyaki," skewers of vegetables wrapped in pork belly. We will introduce some of our recommendations.
First up is the "Tomato Roll" (275 yen per roll). The sweet and sour tomato and the salty pork belly go perfectly together. The tomato is very hot, so take your time before taking your first bite!
Next up is the "Shiso Cheese Roll" (275 yen per roll). The combination of shiso and cheese is a surefire delicious treat. It's irresistible for cheese lovers.
And the one we especially recommend is the "Yamaimo" (3 pieces per plate, 363 yen). It's gently grilled and has an addictive crunchy texture. The sweetness of the yam itself goes well with the simple salt seasoning, making it delicious!
They also have a wide selection of other vegetables, including bell peppers, onions, and shishito peppers. What a great point!
Rich and light! The perfect soup rice for finishing off a meal
The last dish is "Soup Rice" (418 yen). It is a rich yet refreshing soup that you can shovel in some rice. It's the perfect dish to finish off your meal.
There is a wide variety of drinks available, from alcoholic to soft drinks. The skewers are so delicious that you'll find yourself drinking more and more...!
"Samba Skin Yakitori" can be used for various occasions such as after-work drinking parties, yakitori dates, and family dinners. It's a wonderful restaurant that you'll want to return to again and again once you've visited. Please be sure to visit. (Text by Pilot)
