[Nakasu] The meaty hamburger steak is also the best! A highly recommended dish from a long-established curry restaurant (Fukuoka City)
Hello! We are Taiki Beef Curry, and we are always searching for delicious curry!
This time, we went to "Berkeley", which is a 1-minute walk from Exit 5 of Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the Subway Airport Line or Hakozaki Line!
"Berkeley" (Kamikawabata-cho, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City), a curry specialty restaurant that has been loved for many years in Nakasu Kawabata
Berkeley, a curry specialty restaurant founded in 1970, is located on the first floor of Kawabata Chuo Building in Kawabatadori Shopping Street.
If you go further into the building, you will see a sign that says "The Rumored Han Curry."
The "famous ham curry" refers to Berkeley's specialty, Hamburger Curry (1,020 yen).
The shop's, and my own, favorite dish is the "Hamburger Steak Curry," but they also have "Fried Shrimp Curry" (1,000 yen) and "Pork Cutlet Curry" (1,100 yen).
They also have a wide variety of toppings on the menu, making it a dream curry restaurant for someone as greedy as me who wants to try everything.
For an additional 500 yen, you can also add a salad and coffee to your curry set (an additional 430 yen on weekdays from 11am to 3pm).
I haven't tried it yet, but they also have a "Hamburger Steak Set" (1,250 yen *includes salad, miso soup, and rice).
The meaty hamburger steak is delicious! You must try the famous "Han Curry"
This is what I always get at Berkeley.
My favorite thing to do is top my "Hamburger Curry" with a "Hamburger" (520 yen)!
So I gulped down two hamburgers.
The hamburgers are painstakingly handmade one by one.
It's meaty and full of flavor. Just press down a little on it and the juices will ooze out.
The curry that goes with this delicious hamburger is also special.
The combination of hamburger steak and curry can be found not only at curry specialty restaurants but also at a variety of other restaurants, but Berkeley's "famous hamburger curry" is something a little different.
The core of the flavor is a fond de veau-style dish made by slowly simmering beef bones, chicken carcasses, and plenty of vegetables.
The fruity curry, made with plenty of onion, garlic, ginger, and spices, goes extremely well with the strong flavor and fat of the meaty hamburger steak, leaving a surprisingly light aftertaste that doesn't make it heavy at all, even with two hamburgers.
It's simple yet full of flavour, richness and depth.
There are many kinds of hamburger curry on the market, but my favorite is Berkeley's Ham Curry!
I highly recommend trying the "Hamburger Curry" which is made to go perfectly with the hamburger steak. (Text by Taiki Beef Curry)
