You've never seen a drink like this! A hidden bar in Ura Tenjin where you can drink from 2pm (Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)
Hello. I'm Masaki, a writer who loves hidden gourmet spots.
This time, we will introduce a new and exciting bar that opened on August 1, 2024 and is sure to be a hot topic.
Open from noon! The hot new bar "Notime Mixology bar" opened in "Ura Tenjin" (Watanabedori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka)
"Notime Mixology Bar" is located in Watanabedori 5-chome, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka city, in the area known as "Ura Tenjin."
The bar is located on the second floor of a building at the end of a narrow alley off Watanabedori, and feels like a hideaway. You can enjoy delicious drinks in a lovely space.
One of the highlights of the menu is the "Mixology Cocktail," a cocktail made by mixing fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs with distilled alcohol.
According to the owner, Mr. Yamada, there are only a few stores in Fukuoka that serve "mixology cocktails." This is a new and exciting type of drink that is currently very popular, especially overseas.
By the way, "mixology" is a coined word that combines "mix" (to mix) and "ology" (a suffix meaning theory, study, etc.).
They also have a wide variety of cocktails other than mixology cocktails and mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails), so it's recommended for those who can't drink alcohol. They are open from 2pm, so you can have a drink during the day.
This time, we ate at this stylish table seat.
The interior was designed by the owner himself, who originally worked in construction.
The counter seats are also stylish and very elegant.
Introducing recommended drinks, including mixology cocktails
This time, we tried six types of drinks recommended by the owner. *Charge and appetizer fee: 500 yen
In addition to "Mixology Cocktails," we will also introduce "Patisserie Cocktails" and "Cafe Drinks," which are cocktails that express popular products from cake shops.
First, I tried the highly recommended "Fake Bird" (1,400 yen). It was served in a birdcage in a bird-shaped glass.
It is a mixology cocktail that combines gin, absinthe, Saint-Germain, green cold-pressed juice (apple, pineapple, kale, komatsuna), and bamboo charcoal. You can't imagine the taste at all from the black appearance.
When you drink it, it's sweeter than you'd expect, and you can taste the subtle flavors of kale, komatsuna, and other vegetables. It's a shocking drink in both appearance and taste.
The mixology cocktail "Pop Star" (1,400 yen) also had a shocking visual.
It's topped with cotton candy!
A combination of gin, passion fruit liquid, cocoa pulp, white grapes and black tea.
The owner, Mr. Yamada, said, "I want to put my efforts into the SDGs," and so he uses "cacao pulp," the fleshy part of the cacao bean that is often discarded. It's wonderful.
I imagined it would taste like chocolate, but the cacao pulp is different from cacao in that it has a tropical flavor like lychee or mangosteen. It was a refreshing and delicious drink.
Tear off the cotton candy and eat it as is, or dissolve it in a drink.
At the same time as the Pop Star, I also had the mixology cocktail Sunday Morning Cup (1,500 yen). It was the first time I'd ever had a cocktail served in a cup!
The combination is aloe yogurt tequila, sake, peach liqueur, elderflower, yogurt espuma, honey, and berries.
It had just the right amount of sweetness and sourness and was extremely delicious! When you mix it all together, the sweetness stands out even more.
Next up is the patisserie cocktail "Lemon Cake" (1,200 yen), a drink inspired by Italian lemon cake.
A combination of homemade limoncello, egg whites, cream, lemon and vanilla. It's just the right amount of sweet. The milkiness and the perfect amount of lemon flavor are the best.
The cafe drink "Custam Banana Shake" (1,000 yen) is, as the name suggests, a customizable drink.
You can choose from coffee liquor, coconut liquor, and chocolate rum, and this time I chose the chocolate rum "Selvaray Chocolate". It has a gentle banana flavor and sweetness, and is a drink that I would definitely recommend to those who like sweet things.
There is also a non-alcoholic drink called "Gimmick Orange wine" (700 yen).
The combination of Earl Grey, orange, clove and rosemary was refreshing and had a very elegant taste.
The appetizer for the day was "Smooth Truffle Potato Salad."
It was a refreshing and delicious snack.
Thank you for the meal. I had never tried any of these things before, so it was a precious experience.
The owner, Mr. Yamada, and the bartender, Mr. Abe, were friendly and kind, and we had a lively conversation. Thank you very much.
In addition to drinks, you can also enjoy desserts such as the "Seasonal Parfait" (1,400 yen), chocolate cake (600 yen each), and muffins (500 yen each) shown in the photo below.
It has just opened, so it is a place only known to those in the know. Please do come and visit. (Text by Masaki)
