This time, we will introduce you to an izakaya located in Takasago, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City.

Excellent! A pub filled with specialty dishes: "Hakata Uzumaki Yakuin Branch, Charcoal Grilled Vegetable Skewers and Shumai Bar" (Takasago, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City)

Hakata Uzumaki is a popular izakaya restaurant originating from Fukuoka that has multiple locations both within and outside the prefecture.

This time, I went to "Hakata Uzumaki Yakuin Branch," a charcoal-grilled vegetable skewers and shumai bar located about a 5-minute walk from Yakuin Station on the Nanakuma subway line and Nishitetsu line.

Look for the large sign that says "Uzumaki."

A stylish and relaxing space

It is spacious with a total of 74 seats, but it gets busy especially on weekends, and when I visited on a Saturday, customers started pouring in as soon as it opened at 5pm. There are table seats, counter seats, and private sofa seats, and it seems that you can also rent the restaurant for private parties (number of people and budget can be discussed).

The specialties of the Yakuin store are "vegetable roll skewers" and "shumai"!

If you come here, you should definitely try the "Vegetable Roll Skewers" (starting from 180 yen each), one of the specialties of "Hakata Uzumaki."

There are over 10 types of original skewers made by the chef, made by wrapping seasonal vegetables and ingredients in pork belly and grilling them!

Let me introduce the menu I ordered this time.

From the left: "Shiso Rolled Skewers" (210 yen), "Specialty Lettuce Rolled Skewers" (210 yen), "Hakata Mentaiko Rolled Skewers" (290 yen), and "Versatile Green Onion Rolled Skewers" (210 yen).

The charcoal-grilled pork belly is crispy and fragrant, and juicy and delicious.

The "Famous Lettuce Wrapped Skewers" are the most popular! The perfect combination of pork belly and crunchy lettuce, you can eat as many as you want.

The second most popular item is the "Shiso Rolled Skewers," which combines pork belly and shiso for a very refreshing taste.

"Hakata Mentaiko Maki Kushi" is a dish unique to Fukuoka that contains spicy Hakata Spicy Fish Eggs. It is also a perfect snack to go with alcohol.

The "All-purpose Green Onion Skewer" is full of colorful all-purpose green onions! They were all delicious.

This "Hakata Bali Skin Kushi" (180 yen) was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the sweet sauce was absolutely delicious!

Another signature menu item at "Hakata Uzumaki Yakuin Branch" is their new specialty, "Uzumaki Chicken Shumai" (4 pieces for 440 yen).

Apparently, craftsmen hand-prepare it every day.

It's healthy and very popular because it uses chicken! It's hot, juicy, and satisfying.

The dipping sauce is also homemade, and the light sauce is addictively delicious. It goes well with beer.

"Hakata Mentaiko Potato Salad" (530 yen) is potato salad topped with Spicy Fish Eggs, and the creamy potato salad and spicy Hakata Spicy Fish Eggs go perfectly together!

And there's the "Sichuan Mapo Tofu" (680 yen), which is so voluminous it overflows from the bowl and is sure to look great on social media.

It's filled with large chunks of tofu and has a delicious, slightly spicy flavor ♡ It's so spicy that you'll want to eat it with rice, and it's so delicious that you won't be able to stop once you start eating it.

For those who don't like spicy food, we also recommend the "Melty Cheese Mapo Tofu" (730 yen).
