A luxury you can only enjoy now! "Using one and a half peaches" - an exquisite and elegant shaved ice (Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Hello. I'm Ayu.latte, a writer who loves delicious sweets. I love cafes and have visited a total of 2,000 cafes so far.
It's been swelteringly hot every day.
This time we will introduce some delicious cold sweets.
"Shunkachasha Hitotoki" is a shop offering seasonal Japanese sweets and tea that can also be enjoyed in the eat-in area (Bakashi, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Shunkachaya Hitotoki is located just a minute's walk from Heiwadori Station on the Kitakyushu Monorail, near the Tanga Market in Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City.
This is a Japanese tea and Japanese sweets shop with a cafe space on the second floor.
On the first floor, there is a wide selection of Japanese sweets that you can enjoy in season, including daifuku made with seasonal fruits! Japanese tea and black tea are also available for purchase.
All the Japanese sweets look so delicious that it's hard to choose ♡
This time we went to the cafe space on the second floor (children under elementary school age are not allowed in the cafe space).
There are four tables and counter seats facing the large window. Seats can also be reserved.
First, a small ladle and a plate with something white on it are brought out.
When you pour the water from the ladle onto something white, it slowly expands and turns into a wet towel! It's fun just to watch.
Cool and refreshing ice cream available for a limited time
This summer too, summer-only ice cream treats are available.
Peach and Shiratama Ice Cream
This is the "Peach and Shiratama Ice Confection" (1,750 yen). It is a limited-time menu item available until the end of August 2024, and uses about one and a half fresh peaches and compote peaches.
*The availability period may vary depending on the availability of peaches.
There's a huge peach on top, and underneath that are lots of chopped peaches (two types: fresh and compote)! With an abundance of peaches, it's an irresistible sight for peach lovers even before you eat it.
The fluffy milk ice, two types of peaches (fresh and compote), homemade peach sauce, and specially made, elegantly sweet bean paste are a perfect match for this delicious treat!
There were also cute cherry blossom-shaped shiratama inside.
If you add the black tea syrup that comes with it, the flavor changes instantly! It has a completely different taste, which is also delicious.
Tea and peaches are the best combination!
Matcha Mont Blanc and Kudzu Ice Cream
This is also a summer limited edition "Matcha Mont Blanc and Kudzu Neri Ice Confection" (1,500 yen). It is scheduled to be on sale until around mid-September 2024.
Brought to you in a gorgeous bento box, this luxurious shaved ice is made of fluffy milk ice topped with a generous amount of Mont Blanc cake filled with rich matcha bean paste!
The edge of the tiered box is topped with chewy kinako shiratama (rice flour dumplings) and "ten," a kudzu paste confectionery that has been hugely popular since its release, making it an ice confection for adults.
If you slowly lift it with a spoon, you'll see pure white milk ice underneath! The difference in texture from the sticky Mont Blanc is also fun to experience.
Bright drinks made with tea
At "Hi to Toki," we offer a wide variety of Japanese teas and tea-based drinks that you can only find at a Japanese tea specialty store!
If you order ice confectionery, you can get a Japanese tea set for an additional 600 yen (800 yen for "Gyokuro"). There is also a menu where you can enjoy watching the process of making your drink like a show.
This time I ordered a refreshing iced drink.
Herbal Matcha Soda
A luxurious "Herb Matcha Soda" (regular price 950 yen) made by shaking Yame's high-quality matcha in a shaker.
It is finished with rosemary, mint and lemon syrup for a rich aroma.
When you bring your face close to the glass, you'll be sure to be soothed by the faint aroma of herbs and matcha! It's rare to get the chance to drink fizzy matcha, so this is a great recommendation.
Flower Red Sencha
This bright orange tea is "Hana no Beni Sencha" (regular price 900 yen).
This sencha tea is made with citrus fruits such as orange and yuzu, as well as hibiscus and elderflower, giving it a clean, refreshing taste!
Cool down on a hot day with this delicious treat. (Text by ayu.latte)
