A popular photo spot and a stylish cafe! A closed school facility worth the trip (Buzen City)

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.

This time, we will introduce you to a spot perfect for a summer vacation outing. It is a fun facility where even adults can feel like they have traveled back in time to their childhood.

Located in Buzen City, it takes just over an hour and a half to get there from central Fukuoka City on the highway, so it's also recommended for a day trip.

Fun for both adults and children! "Momiji Gakusha" (Buzen City), a former elementary school

Approximately 30 minutes by car from Shiida Minami Interchange on the Higashi Kyushu Expressway.

We arrive at Momiji School, a renovated wooden school building (built in 1955) of the former Kamikawasoko Elementary School, which closed in 1997.

There is a workshop and cafe inside the school building, which you can visit at any time.

I couldn't forget the nostalgic experience I had the first time I visited, so I decided to return for the first time in two years.

There is a gigantic chair and desk object in the schoolyard, which is apparently a very popular photo spot.

Can you see the girls sitting in the chairs?

The school building is home to a library, the principal's office, a reception room, and classrooms for second and third grade students, and just walking down its corridors makes you feel a sense of nostalgia.

When you enter the classroom, you'll see that the chairs, desks, blackboards, etc. are still there, making you feel as if you've traveled back in time to elementary school.

My second daughter, who has a strong desire to become an elementary school student, was extremely excited to see an abacus for the first time!

There were also a selection of retro wooden games available to play for free.

It seemed to be a rare toy for my daughters, who live in the Reiwa era, and they played with it enthusiastically.

The retro atmosphere is irresistible! Enjoy the cake set at "Momiji Cafe"

Momiji Cafe opened in 2021 inside Momiji Gakusha. It is located in a space marked "Staff Room."

The interior of the store is filled with natural light through the windows, creating a space filled with the warmth of wood.

I ordered the "Homemade Cake Set" (800 yen), which comes with a cake of your choice and a drink of your choice.

The cakes change daily and are all homemade.

This is a slightly sweet chocolate cake.

It has a sophisticated taste like super rich raw chocolate. I personally love the taste and it melts in my mouth♡

The biscuits that came with it were also a big hit with the kids.

This is the "Gâteau au Chocolat," which is my child's favorite.

It has a rich and moist texture. My chocolate-loving daughters devoured it in an instant.

"Home-roasted Momiji Blend Coffee" has a refreshing taste and is easy to drink.

Drinking coffee while relaxing in a space surrounded by nature is something special. It was truly a blissful moment.

The "apple juice" is 100% which makes the kids very happy.

Other lunch menu items available include the "Seasonal Limited - Nostalgic Neapolitan" (with salad and dessert / 1,300 yen) and the "Pizza Set" (with salad and drink / 1,200 yen).

On my way out, I was given a charm that would make my next drink half price.

It's a place I love and can enjoy no matter how many times I visit, so I definitely want to go again!

I was very satisfied to be able to get away from my busy daily life and spend some relaxing time. Why not go out and spend some time to reset your tired mind and body? (Text by Yuri-chan)
